Optimising your affiliate tracking is worth the effort – as this Moonpull case study shows. They identified a specific tracking issue with one of Broadband Genie’s major telecoms advertisers. We asked Anthony Clements for his views on the latest manual hits to various UK affiliates enacted by Google. Read his APMA article, "Google’s latest manual penalties tightens the screw on affiliates." His conclusion? "We are likely to see content sites that initially escaped unscathed now receive penalties for using unrelated domain ranking to push either voucher code content or content unrelated to their domain’s original ranking signals... it’s hard to remember a year when Google has had such a sweepingly negative impact on the affiliate industry." We also added a few comments backed up by data from our State of the Nation report which explored how dependent affiliates are on Google's products.
