  • Merry Christmas! Today's Christmas gift has been sponsored by the wonderful Womble Bond Dickinson - thank you so much for your generous support this year! This Christmas, we are also overwhelmed with gratitude for every single person who has supported our Feed a Friend for a Fiver campaign. Thanks to individual donors, corporate sponsors, and those who’ve run incredible fundraisers, we’ve raised an incredible £92,121 (and counting) to help make this season brighter for our Friends and to enable our work to continue well into 2025. 🎉✨ Your generosity has a real impact, ensuring we can provide meals, support, and kindness to those who need it most in Newcastle. Whether you donated, sponsored, or organized a fundraiser—we truly appreciate it. 🧡 From everyone at The People’s Kitchen, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a joyful New Year! 🎅🎁

  • Today's Advent calendar sponsor is Zurich, and thanks to their incredible support, our Friends will receive food hampers to help make this Christmas a little easier. Not all of our Friends are homeless—many are vulnerable, at risk of unemployment, or living in poverty. Whether they will visit the kitchen on Christmas Day or not, Zurich's generosity means we can continue to support those who need it most this festive season. Thank you again!

  • A technical hiccup means yesterday's Advent calendar post comes a little later than intended, but by no means less appreciated! We are very grateful to Forbidden Planet to contributing to our Advent calendar campaign this year. Thank you from The People's Kitchen for supporting our crucial work over the Christmas Period!

  • This Christmas, our incredible team has been hard at work spreading joy and making a real difference for our Friends in need. Here’s what they’ve been up to: 🎄 Rose and Bobby (aka Mr. & Mrs. Claus) lovingly made up 78 individual children’s gift bags—Santa’s list is officially ticked off! 🎄 Kathy and the Stores Team sorted through over 7,500 advent calendar gifts, prepared hampers for next week, and wrapped Christmas gifts to hand out daily. 🎁 🎄 Sue and the Clothing Team organized mountains of donated clothes for our friends. 👗🧥 🎄 Cathy and Peter tackled the festive logistics—including figuring out how many people 5kg of sprouts can feed! 🥦😂 There’s so much work happening behind the scenes, and we are beyond grateful to our dedicated volunteers who make this all possible. Together, they’re making this holiday season brighter for so many. 🌟 Thank you for being the heart of The People’s Kitchen. 💕👏

    • Volunteers at the People's Kitchen fill gift bags with toys that will be provided to those in need this Christmas.
  • Our mission to provide food and friendship this Christmas is only possible with the help of our supporters and sponsors like North East Tropical Society Gateshead. Without your support, it would be nearly impossible for our volunteers to do what they do. A sincere thank you from everyone here at The People's Kitchen!
