We support customers affected by domestic abuse by helping them access refuge accommodation and move home when they’re in a time of crisis. Our Helping Hand fund means we can also provide white goods, furniture and carpets to help relieve the financial burden. As a customer we helped recently said: "Without the grant, I would still have no cooking facilities and no fridge. I'm so grateful for the items I received". Last week our Chief Operating Officer, Neal Ackcral, met the new MP for Dartford, Jim Dickson to talk about the work we do in his constituency and show him some of our homes there.   Neal was joined by our Head of Property Maintenance for the region, Richard Pickup, and the Operations Manager (Neighbourhoods) for Kent, Shola Alao. Shola explained the work our Neighbourhood Officer does in Dartford, checking communal areas are safe and engaging with customers. With all our repairs in Kent done in-house, Rich spoke about the changes we've made this year to speed up our service and improve customer satisfaction. #UKHousing #Neighbourhoods

Our Chief Executive Andy Hulme welcomed the key changes to the National Planning Policy Framework announced this week, but stated that more government support is needed beyond these important reforms. “When a government puts forward ambitious changes it's important to remind ourselves why we're doing this. Evidence shows England's severe housing shortage has made it the most difficult place in the developed world to find a home". Along with Rivervale and CT Sussex we’re excited to launch the Hyde Community Bus Project – bringing essential transport to Midhurst and beyond.   The Hyde Charitable Trust funded electric, wheelchair accessible bus will benefit residents experiencing rural isolation, poor transport networks, low income and disability, providing trips to shops, support services, and family outings. By working together with specialist organisations including Safe Partnership Ltd, we help keep victims and survivors of domestic abuse safe in their homes. Following referral from our Tenancy team, Safe Partnership will carry out home security check and install additional security measures such as a fireproof letterbox, video doorbell, or alarm where needed. This provides practical support and reassurance, improving security to a customer’s home at a time when they feel vulnerable and unsafe. #UKHousing #DomesticAbuse #16DaysofAction
