It is with deep respect that I file my final report on the work of the International Bar Association president, Almudena Arpón de Mendívil Aldama, as she concludes her term of office. Few IBA presidents have left such a lasting impression on the organisation as she has, following in the footsteps of the late Fernando Pombo, one of the founders of her firm, Gómez-Acebo & Pombo, who also led the IBA with distinction. Arpón de Mendívil has arguably matched the work of Dianna Kempe, the first female IBA president to hold the role. She has won the respect of Mark Stephens CBE and Anne Ramberg - not easily done - and stressed the importance of the International Bar Association's Human Rights Institute. She has worked harmoniously with Mark Ellis and the IBA staff to elevate the IBA platform, hosting two successful annual conferences in Paris and Mexico. Under her leadership, and thanks to Sara Carnegie's work, the IBA was rightly recognised at the Women and Diversity in Law Awards for its work on gender diversity in law. Almudena has been the ambassador that international lawyers have needed, putting Spanish lawyers in the spotlight of the global profession. Hers is a Hispanic success that demands recognition. She has once again shown that women lawyers can reach the pinnacle of their profession alongside pioneering figures like Christina Blacklaws (she/her), Lise Lotte Hjerrild, Carola van den Bruinhorst, and others. My piece for the Global Legal Post is below. https://lnkd.in/djp5BViH

Legal superinfluencers "have mastered LinkedIn to such a degree that their personal influence outstrips their entire firm’s corporate page". So writes Simon P MARSHALL in his latest article for GLP. He draws on research by his firm, TBD Marketing Ltd, to reveal that "the top five individual influencers have as much combined influence as the top 11 law firms".
