As Christmas approaches, we want to take a moment to wish everyone well during this festive season 🎄🎉 Last week, our office came together for Christmas Jumper Day, packed with fun activities which saw some serious competition. From guessing the weight of the hamper to naming the elf, counting chocolates, and playing a snowball game to see how many cotton wool balls you could get into a bowl while blindfolded, the games kept us all entertained. We also hosted our annual Bake Off and Christmas quiz, while our teams brought in delicious cakes and pies to share. We generously donated all the proceeds from the games and cake sales to Save the Children UK and The Martin Charles Wyers Foundation. You may have seen a post yesterday about the very sad passing of Vickie McCoy, one of the Floorbrite family, on the 20th of November. Today we will be saying our final farewell at her funeral, along with family and friends and we just wanted to share this beautiful tribute created by Krishan Singh, Floorbrite’s content producer. 🙏 As it says. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague Vickie McCoy. She died peacefully on the 20th of November, surrounded by family after a difficult battle with cancer. Vickie was our Head of Governance and Sustainability, joining Floorbrite in 2017 as our HSEQ Assistant, supporting us with Health & Safety and ISO Management. However, she became so much more, developing a passion for our ESG goals. She took her IEMA certification in 2022 and set us on our path to Carbon Neutrality. Vickie will be dearly missed by her Floorbrite family. Her dry sense of humour, wit, quiet wisdom and smile set her apart . Sustainable Solution Alert! Last week, Carol Allcock from our Business Development team, visited our supplier, Derby-based water conservation and washroom services specialists HSG UK whilst they were formally presented with The King’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation. Family-owned HSG develops revolutionary washroom innovation technologies that significantly reduce water consumption, save money and help support a more sustainable planet. HSG originally won The Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation in 2018 for its market-leading Ureco System, comprised of the Ureco urinal sleeve and Uretech water management system. The Ureco System works to save water and money whilst improving washrooms by eliminating smells and preventing urinal blockages. Every year, the Ureco System saves over 1 billion litres of water which equates to 500 Olympic-sized swimming pools, across its customer sites including Tesco, Toyota Manufacturing UK, NEC, Pizza Hut, All England Lawn Tennis Club, Aston Martin and more than 100 NHS sites. The King’s Award recognises the further innovative technologies that HSG has brought to market alongside the Ureco System: - The Ureflush which was launched in 2022 and is a low-cost alternative to dual flush. A toilet flush will use 11-13 litres, whereas Ureflush reduces this consumption to as low as 1 litre, depending on the duration the button is held whilst flushing. - A new version of Uretech enables data capture, remote flush and a real time clock - providing more flexibility for the customer to concentrate the 4 daily flushes at high footfall times. - The Uretech Plus+ also provides wifi-enabled water management – providing minute-by-minute readings of water usage, leak detection and software that can remotely switch off the water if necessary. - Since the 2018 Award, an eighth enzyme has been included in the Ureco to enable the breakdown of the protein strain in hair. Simon Rice explained: “This is the highest and most prestigious award that can be granted to a business in the UK and we are very proud to now be displaying The King’s Award emblem. It was a bright and sunny day when we visited Lovett, and it felt like the good weather was no coincidence ☀ Lovett, one of our cleaning supervisors on site, radiates positivity, and her smile was as warm as the sun that day. “Lovett is amazing with people,” says Patrycja, our Area Manager. And it’s clear why. Lovett’s energy is infectious, and the relationships she’s built on-site are nothing short of remarkable. “They always give me gifts, many times. They always say I’m a good cleaner! Lovett, the whole place is nice!” she says with a smile. The appreciation she receives says a great deal about her character whether it’s a coffee, chocolates, or, as she puts it, “Last week, the lady on the 8th floor bought me two cokes.” Her dedication is just as notable. Lovett makes sure everything runs smoothly each day, from uniform checks to ensuring safety in the early, dark winter mornings. “I make sure every morning when I come in, I go to each and every colleague to make sure that they have their yellow signs, make sure everyone is on time, I will do uniform checks and rectify or educate anyone if they don’t have the correct uniform. If somebody is not in, I will ring them to check and make sure nothing has happened on the way to work”. Patrycja adds, “During winter months, they start at 5 am, and it is pitch black, so Lovett will take the correct measures to make sure that they’re safe”. It’s no wonder Lovett and her team received high praise during Christmas last year from our client, with a massive thank you from everyone on site. 🌟 National Customer Service Week 🌟 Today is Service with Respect Day! 🙌 At The Floorbrite Group, we recognise the value of treating every service professional with empathy, respect, and care. Exceptional service isn’t just about solving problems, it’s about creating relationships and leaving a positive, lasting impact. Here’s a great example with news from our Environmental & Waste Team! On the 18th November 2024, our MD Nik Wyers and our Waste team, Dave, Ella and Ste have been invited to Kensington Palace, London, to receive an International Green Apple Award. The Floorbrite Group has been chosen for this environmental award for all the support that we have provided to our client in managing and segregating their waste streams across the UK, including: diverting huge amounts of waste types from landfill, reusing unwanted material which is sent to Switzerland and then made into designer bags and reusing unwanted material which is sent to Africa to provide shelters for farmland or used in humanitarian projects such as roofing material for temporary housing. Not only have we supported our client in achieving ‘zero to landfill’ status this year, all rebates have been saved by The Floorbrite Group throughout the year and have been donated to a charity of our client’s choice in support of their CSR initiatives. In 2023, £1200 was saved from rebates and then donated to our client’s annual Charity Bike Ride in May 2024. Please join us in congratulating our Environmental & Waste Team! An amazing achievement!
