QUOTE FOR THE DAY This can be really difficult to do. We can't see the wood for the trees and get so locked into the difficult situation we seem to abandon our problem solving skills and our ability to see opportunity Turn the situation on its head and ask yourself 'what if I...' perhaps did the exact opposite, took a step back, asked someone else to step in and find the potential in the situation. #businessowners #success #businessdevelopment

Not only is another month gone but here we are at the end of another year! December was a game of two pieces; first delivery, then planning 2025. One delivery highlight was working with students from Hartpury University on their business ideas (a regular feature in the calendar). This year, three ideas are already in motion and another is close to launch - amazing! The pointers I provide are nearly always around getting total clarity on the definition of each part of the target market and how their small differences inform the marketing strategies and messaging. With members I worked on a technique called The Blank Canvas which challenges just about everything! From how well your suppliers are performing to decluttering subscription lists. There were several one on one meetings helping each business with a particular challenge or just providing a sounding board to give them the confidence that they are on the right track. In a focused hour it is staggering how much can be achieved and how the clarity of next steps motivates and inspires. The final part of the month was focused on planning and I am feeling pretty smug! Events for 2025 are planned and diarised. With workshops, networking events, business shows and more chances to join my membership groups. AND the detailed marketing schedule is planned; checklists created and data cleaned. Perhaps 2025 is the year to work ON your business? DM to book a call to find out how I can help you #businessowners

Each year, it is estimated that 80 percent of New Year's resolutions are abandoned by February! Dating back to ancient Babylonians, the most common resolution is to “improve oneself.” While modern resolutions focus on fitness, finances, or personal goals, ancient Babylonians often pledged to pay debts or return borrowed farming tools! #newyear2025

It's been widely reported that the month was named for the Roman god Janus, but it's actually rooted in the Latin word "ianua," which means door. The name was chosen to symbolize the opening of a new door that happens when the new year begin. The Roman god Janus, for whom January is named, had two faces: one looking to the past and one to the future and this is said to symbolis opening and closing doors This symbolic connection to transitions made January an ideal month for reflection and resolutions, a tradition dating back to 46 BCE when Julius Caesar introduced the Julian calendar. #newyear2025

Celebrating the change of the year has been around a while! The earliest records of New Year celebrations are believed to be somewhat 4000 years old and happened in ancient Babylon in Mesopotamia. But their festivities occurred in late March during the spring equinox, not in January. Their celebration, called Akitu, lasted 11 days and honoured the renewal of life and the crowning of a new king or reaffirmation of the current king #newyear2025

No surprisingly, there are many different traditions associated with New Year round the world A Scottish tradition where the first person to enter your home after midnight is said to determine your fortune for the year. The lucky person, or "first footer", is traditionally a dark-haired man carrying coal, bread, salt, or a coin. The coal is said to ensure that the house will always be warm. In Spain, a popular tradition includes eating 12 grapes on New Year’s Eve with each grape at a single stroke of the clock at midnight. These grapes represent the 12 months of the year and are supposed to bring good luck. And every year on New Year, people in Italy wear red underwear to bring good luck and love to their lives. #newyear2025

The small Pacific nation of Kiribati (specifically the Line Islands) is the first inhabited place to ring in the New Year, due to its placement on the International Date Line. It’s followed shortly by parts of New Zealand, like Gisborne and Chatham Islands. #BusinessGrowthTips #businessstrategy #smallbusinessowner

QUOTE FOR THE DAY Look at this from both the level of the big things in your business as well as the more detailed If you think about it at a more detailed level the outcome from any activity or task you undertake is the starting point of the next activity or task. The same IS also true for the big picture pieces too. Be excited about those new beginnings #businessowners #success #businessdevelopment
