2024 has been an outstanding year for Switchback. In the midst of the prison population crisis making consistent headlines and resettlement and mentorship gaining huge support in the local and national political landscape, we are proud of how we have advocated for the men we work with and stuck true to our values throughout. We are ending a busy year having supported nearly 700 young men to a find a way out of the justice system, building stable and rewarding lives that they're proud of. This year we worked with more journalists and media than ever before, and met even more decision makers to influence a focus on prison resettlement and release, gaining valuable support for our mission. We've supported men to tell their stories and use their experiences to inspire change. We have provided more men with a wider range of resources, opportunities and experiences, from film training to hospitality, and supported people to live life differently. Switchback Trainees have been reflecting on the year, from proudest moments to hopes for 2025, in a series of videos you can watch on Switchback’s YouTube channel. https://lnkd.in/eSjaiehD But we couldn't have done all of this without YOU. So thank you, from all of us here at Switchback. We wanted to take the time to wish you a restful holiday period and truly Happy New Year. We can't wait to show you what we have planned for 2025. Thank you.

We enable young prison-leavers to make real, lasting change
About us
Switchback is an award-winning charity supporting young Londoners to find a way out of the justice system and build stable, rewarding lives after prison. Switchback's model is centred on a meaningful 1-to-1 relationship between Switchback Mentor and Switchback Trainee, beginning in prison and lasting as long as it takes after release. Our pioneering approach works: in stark contrast to the national average - which sees nearly half of prison leavers back inside within a year - only 9% of Switchback Trainees reoffend, while over half move into long-term work. Building on 15 years of impact, Switchback and our Experts by Experience Board work with others to inspire change across the justice system and beyond.

A huge thank you to Peckham Levels for hosting our first-ever #MakingWaves showcase last month! It was a joy to see the young men from our London's Violence Reduction Unit-funded music-making programme perform the original tracks they created during the course. It was particularly special to have mentors from Trailblazers Mentoring and Switchback in the audience cheering on their mentees and celebrating their amazing achievements. Tom Ireland, our Music Facilitator shared: "Proud is an understatement. It takes a lot to open up and be vulnerable when making songs, but it takes pure bravery to perform in front of dozens of people.” Find out more about Making Waves and how you can refer a young person! ⬇ https://lnkd.in/g_jQf8uR Divert Catch22 HM Prison and Probation Service Strides Hestia Charity Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) #MusicIntervention #PurposefulActivity #SouthLondon #MusicActivity #MusicProgramme #CommunityMusic #ReducingReoffending

WE DID IT! ❤️ As you know, this year we took part in the Big Give Christmas Campaign where we set ourselves the goal of raising £40,000, and thanks to you we smashed our target. This Christmas Switchback 'painted a different picture of prison release'. To do this we collaborated with London artist Fran Copeman and shared the first-hand stories and experiences of four inspiring Switchback Trainees. Your dedication to our cause has been nothing short of remarkable. Whether you made a donation, shared our campaign, or spread the word among your networks, each of you played a vital role in this achievement. The overwhelming response from our community has left our entire team humbled and inspired. This success means so much more than just reaching a financial target. Every pound raised will directly impact the lives of hundreds of young men leaving prison who are seeking to build a brighter future. #ChristmasChallenge #ReshapeRelease #London
