We are one of 39 LEPs across the UK tasked with driving economic growth, creating jobs and new business opportunities and working with central government to attract public and private investment into the Swindon & Wiltshire Area. The objective of the SWLEP is to drive economic growth in the region through creating the right infrastructure to support our business base. They are the wealth-creators that will deliver job and new business opportunities. We are focusing on four key areas:- • Encouraging existing investors to do more and attract new Inward Investment from around the globe • Stimulating growth in our indigenous businesses, specifically encourage more firms to export their goods and services growth • Support Job creation, education and skills so that we have a workforce able to meet the challenges of the 21st century • Develop the Economic infrastructure that will provide businesses with certainty when they are planning for growth Connect with us on Linked In to have your say and hear about the work we do. • Storm Darragh is due to bring strong winds and rain to Swindon and Wiltshire in the coming days. There was a yellow warning of wind in place for yesterday (5 December) and further yellow warnings of both rain and wind in Swindon and Wiltshire in place for the coming days, though this may change. As this follows Storm Bert and the recent heavy rain, there may be a risk of some localised flooding as the ground is already saturated. Please keep an eye on the Government’s flood alerts and warnings webpage for the latest information. You can also sign up for flood warnings and find out about what to do when warnings/alerts are in place. Take care on the roads and drive to the conditions. Watch out for surface water and do not attempt to drive through any floodwater. We are still waiting to hear from the government on when and if financial support will be available for business owners whose homes or premises have been affected by flooding following Storm Bert. Anyone who has been affected is advised to contact us with their name, business address and email address so we can notify them if support from the government becomes available. Affected business owners should email hello@swgrowthhub.co.uk.

Fleming Way is about to get a lot greener 🌳🌲 More than 100 trees, along with thousands of shrubs and bushes, are being planted as part of the regeneration work in the area. This will help enhance the environment, support local wildlife, and with some of the trees and bushes also being planted in The Parade and other public realm areas, make the walk between the town centre and bus and train stations a lot more pleasant. Alongside the public realm improvements, the Fleming Way scheme will also include: 🚌 a new new bus interchange to accommodate all bus services in the town centre, replacing the ageing current 1960s bus station 🚲 new cycle lane facilities that connect the town’s western and eastern cycle flyers 🚽 a new toilet block with a Changing Places toilet You can find out more about the project by searching ‘Fleming Way’ on our website. #NationalTreeWeek #GreenerSwindon #BetterSwindon
