Meet Alison Strodder-Murphy, a Senior Placement Support Worker based in Yorkshire, who works directly with children and young people within fostering households. Alison is not only an invaluable asset to the fostering community but also an avid runner, having completed nearly 170 park runs, with a personal best achieved in 2024—congratulations Alison! When she’s not running, she’s tending to her garden, a sanctuary that even her neighbour's cats can’t resist. Alison also takes pride in her homemade pizzas and loves spending time by the sea. Our Midlands foster carers were celebrated yesterday with a coffee morning to recognise those who have dedicated 5, 10, 15, and 20 years to transforming the lives of children and young people in their care. As a gesture of appreciation, each long-term foster carer received gift bags containing flowers, framed certificates and personalised cards from their Swiis Social Worker, reflecting on their fostering journey. Thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate!

Could you make a difference to a young person's life? We recently spoke with two of our Midlands-based foster carers, Vicky and Rachel, about their journey to becoming foster carers. Rachel said: “Becoming a foster carer has given me a whole new outlook to life and I hope our fostered children all feel loved, appreciated and safe because they deserve nothing less."
