It has been a week since our owner Derek Horrocks, also chairman of both the National Home Decarbonisation Group (NHDG) and National Insulation Association (NIA), and our Managing Director, Gary Lawson attended the prestigious annual NHDG and NIA Parliamentary Reception hosted in the House of Lords’ Cholmondeley Room and Terrace by Lord Best. It was announced in Labour’s first month back in office that sweeping changes will be made to planning, with the built environment waiting to see what these changes may look like. Now that we have had a chance to see their proposed changes to the National Planning Policy Framework, here is a portion of what our owner Derek Horrocks thought: “The UK currently sits in a large housing deficit, which in turn is impacting the economy, people’s ability to get on the property ladder, and availability of much-needed affordable or social homes. When considering this, it’s not a huge surprise to see high housing targets – now set at 370,000 new homes annually. “However, it’s important that with new-build homes taking centre stage in this discussion, we don’t lose focus on the work to be done on our existing housing stock – which can create or open up lots of homes from another avenue.” To read Derek’s full reflections, visit: https://lnkd.in/eRMyCnPt
