Did you know there are many benefits to a nice walk with your companion? This #NationalWalkYourDogMonth, we would like to share some good reasons to get your shoes (or wellies) on, grab their lead, and embark on an adventure with your best friend! Such as: 👉 Keeping fit - helps your pet stay happy and healthy, reducing obesity and further well-being risks in the future. 👉 Improved bond - walking your pet is the perfect opportunity to deepen your bond. They love spending time with you! 👉 Training opportunity - outside is full of distractions, providing you with the time to start training with commands like; 'heel, sit, and stay'. In turn, building your dog's confidence and ensuring further stimulation. Happy trails from everyone here at #StreetVet! #AnimalCharity #HelpingOthers #Homelessness #PetInclusive #Walking #WalkingDogs #PetAdventures

Volunteer vets & nurses provide free essential vet care to the pets of those experiencing homelessness across the UK
About us
StreetVet was born in 2016, inspired by the incredible bond between a homeless man and his dog! Victims of the UK homelessness epidemic often have scant support, except for, in a growing number of cases, the companionship of their pets. Many have had their pets since before experiencing homelessness. Others had the responsibility of pet ownership thrust upon them. Irrespective, the bond between many homeless people and their pets is profound, such that their animals wellbeing is a life-shaping priority. Our ever-increasing number of volunteers help, by outreaching nationally in 24 locations across the UK providing free accessible fundamental vet care and services. StreetVet volunteer vets and nurses, work alongside other organisations and homelessness service providers, and operate in multiple communities across the UK weekly. Since inception, we have helped care for more than 2,800 pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, bearded dragons, other small furies and a tortoise too! We take the practice to the pavement, anything that can be done in a consulting room our team of volunteer vets and veterinary nurses do on the streets. We vaccinate, microchip, treat for fleas and protect against lungworm, we prescribed pain relief and help fight infections, we take blood, test urine and sample lumps, and importantly sometimes we just sit and listen. Currently, many people experiencing homelessness face the impossible choice between a roof over their heads or giving up their best friend. The StreetVet Accredited Hostel Scheme launched in 2020 and offers support for hostels and temporary accommodation providers to adopt and implement positive pet policies. Benefits of the scheme include free vet care & pet essentials for registered pets, staff training on how to work with animals, comprehensive temporary accommodation pet policy, telemedicine platform for virtual vet appointments, emergency boarding to allow those to attend medical appointments as needed, behavioural support.

#StreetVet Gloucester volunteer Cliff was visited by lovely Stitch and Sheila during outreach, and provided them with brand new coats to keep them warm during the colder months! This winter wear makes a huge difference to the pets of those experiencing #homelessness, helping them combat the cold and wet weather. We are looking forward to sharing more updates from the Gloucester team and their patients throughout 2025! #StreetVetGloucester #HelpingOthers #PetInclusive #AnimalCharity #Whatwedo

The kindness shown to #StreetVet from our loyal supporters throughout 2024 has been incredible. From donations to purchases from our Amazon Wishlist's, we have made a difference in the lives of many pets that we treat. Recently, our Cornwall outreach team received some lovely surprises for the pets of those experiencing #homelessness, and would like to say a heartfelt thank you to those who have contributed to this magnificent haul. Sadly, we do not receive any contact details from Amazon, so we are unable to thank everyone individually. Thank you once again for your generosity and for choosing to support StreetVet 💙 #HelpingOthers #SupportStreetVet #AnimalCharity #PetInclusive #ThankYou

Here at #StreetVet, we know that a lot of owners love to share some delicious food with their pets during the Christmas period.
