As Rob Clifford explains in our latest blog, the mortgage market has shifted dramatically since December 2021, with the Bank of England’s rapid rate hikes pushing many borrowers into uncharted territory. Despite resilience, affordability remains strained, with borrowers spending 40.1% of their income on repayments in September—far above the long-term average of 35.9%. So what’s next? By 2027, another 4.4 million borrowers will face higher rates, underscoring the critical role brokers play in providing customer guidance. As rates stabilise and fall, now is the time to: ✔️ Reach out to clients due for refinancing. ✔️ Highlight the value of independent advice. ✔️ Help borrowers secure the best deals.
