About us

St Barnabas supports more than 10,500 local people every year and delivers care to patients living with a life limiting or terminal illness and their families. Our ambition, for every patient we meet, is to enable them to live life to the fullest possible extent for however many days, weeks or months they have left. This year it will cost over £11.5m to deliver our services. The NHS does give us some money, but we still need to raise at least £5.5 million. There are so many ways you can get involved and help us achieve our ambition.

  • More than 250 visitors attended Gelder Group's Halloween Walk over three nights in October, in support of St Barnabas Hospice and Gelder Group Charity. Their bravery was rewarded with a much-needed drink, hot dog or burger, but best of all the knowledge that they had help to raise a fantastic £4,000. Gelder Group CEO Steve Gelder welcomed our Head of Fundraising & Lottery, Caroline Swindin to the firm’s Sturton-by-Stow headquarters to receive a cheque and everyone’s good wishes, just in time for Christmas. Caroline said: "This incredible donation will make a huge difference to our community Hospice at Home teams providing care and support to patients and their families in their own homes throughout Lincolnshire, when they need it most."

  • Retail247 took on the incredible challenge of the London Royal Parks Walk (26 miles) in aid of St Barnabas Hospice 💛 The team, no strangers to walking challenges, hadn’t done one in two years and chose this route as most of them are based in London. Sadly, just before announcing the challenge, a colleague’s family member passed away. This family member was cared for at a hospice near Grantham, and their colleague shared how much relief and support the hospice team provided to both him and his father during such a difficult time. Inspired by this, the team decided to raise funds for St Barnabas. Thank you, Retail247, for your amazing effort and support! 💙

  • We'd like to give special thanks to supporters Hazel and Sara from Waddington and Celia from Grantham, who have generously provided festive treats for our staff this Christmas and refreshments at our fundraising events. Over the last couple of years, neighbours Hazel and Sara have provided hampers for community fundraisers to use at events, helping us to raise hundreds of pounds for hospice care. This year they also wanted to give a gift of sweet treats to the staff at the IPU to keep them going through the festive period! Celia from Grantham has been supporting Community Fundraiser Fiona in the south of the county all year with her amazing baking skills, providing lots of much needed cake for events. This year she also wanted to give an extra special treat to the staff at the IPU and the Hospice in the Hospital, so made them each a beautiful Christmas cake. Thank you so much to all the ladies involved for their generosity and kindness 💛

  • As the school term wraps up, we want to send a thank you to all the schools that took part in Rudy's Run this year! Your support means the world to us, and we can’t wait to announce our grand total in January! A special shout-out goes to two first-time schools who went above and beyond with their fundraising efforts: 🌟 Mareham Le Fen Primary School raised an incredible £735 – an amazing achievement for a school with just 90 children! 🌟 St John’s Primary Academy in Bracebridge Heath raised a phenomenal £1,547! This was made extra special thanks to siblings Benedict and Edith, who encouraged their Headteacher to take part after witnessing the care their beloved granddad Steve received from St Barnabas. Fellow pupil Willow's family also generously donated £500 after being touched by our care. Community Fundraiser Fiona and Rudy had the pleasure of visiting these schools to say a big thank you! We’re so grateful to every student, teacher, and family who made Rudy’s Run a success this year. You’re all amazing 💛🎄

  • A huge thank you to Ellen Goodwin, who ran the Berlin Marathon in memory of her Mum and Dad, Jeannette and Ralph Goodwin, raising an incredible £2,520 💛 Ellen shared: “We sadly lost my Mum in October 2021 and shortly after my Dad in July 2022. My Mum spent her final days at St Barnabas Hospice as an inpatient, and my Dad was cared for by me and my twin Sister Laura with the help of the nurses and doctors at St Barnabas, spending his final days at home. The end-of-life support, care, and knowledge they provided was invaluable. I will forever be thankful for the support they have given me and continue to give to other families.” Ellen also joined our team of runners at this year’s Torchlight Procession, helping us light the way in remembrance of loved ones. Thank you, Ellen, for your incredible support and for honouring your parents’ memory in such a meaningful way 🌟

  • St Barnabas Louth Wellbeing Centre has been beautifully transformed for the festive season, thanks to a generous donation of a Christmas tree from B&Q Louth! This thoughtful gesture, valued at approximately £50, was made possible by Mark Whitelock, Store Manager, and Jamie Donachie, Warehouse Team Leader, in recognition of the incredible impact St Barnabas Hospice has on the local community. This is the third year in a row they’ve kindly donated a tree to the centre 🎄💛 A special thank you to Debbie Donachie, Clinical Service Manager for the North East Team, for working closely with B&Q to bring this festive gift to life! The tree now shines brightly in the entrance hallway of the Wellbeing Centre, spreading joy and holiday cheer to staff, volunteers, and visitors alike.
