Nick Clegg, the former deputy prime minister of the UK and Meta's president of global affairs, is stepping down after six years at the company. Joel Kaplan, Clegg’s current deputy, will become the new chief global affairs officer. Before joining Meta, Kaplan was the deputy chief of staff for policy under President George W. Bush from 2006 to 2009. Clegg joined Facebook (now Meta) in 2018 as vice president for global affairs and communications during a time when the company was under scrutiny after the Cambridge Analytica data scandal and its involvement in the 2016 US presidential election.
