  • A brilliant community event yesterday evening for a group of our CFOs at Startup CFO Our panel shared lessons on the CFO’s role in risk management in a Startup or Scaleup. We learned about the most critical cash controls around bank accounts, treasury and the procure-to-pay process. How to partner with a founder in the early stages and identify pragmatic solutions matched up against the inherent risks in those vital early years. We discussed insights on taking that process through to a full risk register with cross-departmental responsibilities. And we all learned a thing or two about the hot topics when it comes to insurance coverage (spoiler alert, it’s Cyber!) Huge thanks for Alysha Randall Mary McWarren Luke Chesworth and our sponsor Superscript for helping us bring together this really amazing learning and development session. This meet-up is one of ten peer-to-peer learning sessions our community is running this month. Guy Hutchinson Dan Hodsden #CFOs #Tech #RiskManagement #Community

  • We're super excited to announce a new Startup CFO partnership with Solvimon, a modern platform designed to solve billing, quoting, and monetization for fast-growing Fintech and SaaS businesses. The team at Solvimon come with a deep heritage in Dutch Tech and significant prior success at Adyen.   Solvimon's platform and expertise enable flexible, automated billing for businesses with sophisticated needs, including those using usage-based and hybrid business models — helping them eliminate revenue leakage, prevent billing errors, and automate manual processes that slow growth.   We're delighted to be collaborating with the team at Solvimon and running some great events together in London and Amsterdam, focusing on the Fintech space and other business models driving growth with usage based models.   Will Ritchie Kim Verkooij. #CFOs #fintech #community

  • Implementing an ERP system in a tech startup is crucial for streamlining operations and improving efficiency by integrating various business processes into a unified system. Good implementation allows startups and scaleups to focus on innovation and growth in a competitive market. In our in person event on the evening of the 1st of October, we’ll gain insight from Harry Young, Group Finance Director at Journey, on his experience of implementing NetSuite and how that has supported business growth. This is a great example of a peer-to-peer event with one of our London members sharing valuable insights with a discrete group of CFOs that have ERP in their sights. As the only CFO community built by CFOs for CFOs, we are uniquely positioned to deliver these incredibly high quality events. If you are a leading finance professional in a high growth business please grab a ticket off the link, and then hit our website https://startupcfo.tech/ and apply for a membership. We’ll seek to join up the dots and get you one of the last remaining seats for this session. https://lnkd.in/e9QxcnYA #CFOs #ERP #implementations #finance

  • What does it take to bring together a high-performing C-Suite in a startup or scaleup? This was the remit discussed by Tech CFOs in our community, who gathered for a fireside chat with Eldar Tuvey from Vertice this week. It’s a topic that hones in on how leadership works in high-growth businesses, along with exploring how driven people can bring their respective expertise to fully exploit innovative business opportunities. Eldar shared insight from his perspective as a serial entrepreneur building businesses at scale. This was a brilliant evening for our members at Home Grown Club and it was wonderful to deliver this CFO meet-up in conjunction with Vertice, our partner in the SaaS and cloud savings space. #cfos #csuite #executiveteam #meetup

As 2024 progresses a high proportion of CFOs in venture backed businesses will be gearing up to go back to the equity markets for their next raise. The Tech ecosystem has seen a sharp contraction on funding activity last year, however with the CFO driving a focus on business fundamentals, capital efficient growth and a clear investment narrative, leading Tech businesses are completing substantial rounds. In this Startup CFO community event, in conjunction with our sponsor Atlar, we have a panel of finance leads and investors discussing what it takes to succeed with your equity round. We are joined by investor Anthony Danon, alongside Bethany Staff and Robert Hollingsworth for this in person event on the 17th of April. This is a members only event, if you are not currently an SCFO member and seek to join, just apply via the website. And we’ll seek to ensure you get a ticket for this great event. #community #CFOs #funding #investors

  • As a community of tech CFOs in startups and scaleups, no one should be surprised that we like to focus on the metrics that matter. We're delighted to be on track to deliver seven amazing events for the community of 900+ strategic CFOs this month, focusing on expert insights, peer-to-peer support, and networking. We’ve most recently hosted a virtual fireside chat with Yvonne Sandner, who shared insights on getting the most out of your ERP reporting. Coming up, we’re hosting an in-person meet-up at Octopus Ventures where we’ll get some time with Carl Tishler to identify the pathway for finance professionals who seek to really ramp their executive decision-making around their career journey. Of course, we can never ignore the importance of the US market in our Tech CFO community. Enter Avalara, who are bringing together some vital content on US market launches, partnered with a long-time friend of the group David Rose. We’ll also be wrapping up our latest SaaS for CFOs cohort with an insightful talk from Roy Tuvey, on building a predictable growth engine in SaaS.  [Pictured - our recent SaaS for CFOs group event with LegalEdge’s Rob Kinder, giving a talk on setting out a framework for building the growth engine in your business]. If you’re a CFO within the tech space and are interested in learning more about joining the group to have access to all these events, visit the link in the comments.

  • As the leading community for Tech CFOs, when we meet a new member for the first time, it is typically the number of events we run each month that impresses. March is no exception. Already this month, we have had a brilliant talk from Hugo Grimston covering the key learnings from taking a SaaS business from seed stage to scaleup over eight years. Our popular SaaS programme gets a further boost, and perhaps some SaaS cost savings, next week with Rob Kinder setting out a framework for building the growth engine in your business. In addition, we had twenty of our Startup CFO members join us for a talk from Olivier Bisserier, covering the elements that drive strategic value as a Tech CFO. Olivier was CFO at Booking.com for many years, and so could share really deep insights from one of Europe's most significant Tech success stories. In 8 days, over 3 events, we’ve seen such a broad spectrum of topics covered, all of which meet the needs of CFOs, depending on where they are in their career and where their business is at in terms of growth stage. If you’re interested in learning more about what events are coming up, all upcoming Startup CFO events are listed here: https://lnkd.in/ezAZgvtS
