Fast forward 170 years and while traditional brewing techniques remain, innovation, passion and craftsmanship continue to evolve. Most famous for our flagship beer, Tribute Pale Ale, our range of award-winning beers – also including Proper Job IPA and korev lager - are available in pubs and supermarkets nationwide. We're also the leading wholesale distributor of beers, ciders, minerals, wines, and spirits in the South West. We own over 160 pubs, inns, and hotels across the West Country – including managed houses and tenancies - in some of the region's most iconic locations.

  • We are thrilled to see our first ever Impact Report launch today. In addition to Kevin’s words, we would like to share some from our Chairman, Gerard Barnes: “Every business has a part to play in making our world a better place, and reports like these play a pivotal role in enabling us to measure our progress and drive further improvements. Our activities have a substantial influence on the environment, employment, supply chains and communities of the places in which we operate. Our history, ambition for the future, and our role in our communities and environments all come with great responsibility.” This is an important milestone on our sustainability journey and one we are extremely proud to share. A lot of hard work went into bringing our inaugural Impact Report to life. It wonderfully captures the essence of our business and is a true reflection of the hard work and progress made over the past three years. There is still a lot to do but this is a very big step in the right direction. Bring on 2025! 🙌 Laura McKay Emily Coon Seismic #impactreport #sustainability #responsibility #businesscornwall

Chief Executive Officer at St Austell Brewery

This year, at St Austell Brewery, we’ve been sharpening our focus on what it takes to become a future-fit business in our multifaceted sector; one that does a proper job in driving positive impact for both people and the planet. So, I'm delighted to announce the launch of our 2024 Impact Report – the first of its kind for St Austell Brewery. We’re excited to share our progress and proudly showcase the last few years of our impact. It’s been brilliant to reflect on all that’s been achieved and outline our future ambition. I’m proud of the positive impact we’ve had and am delighted to be able to share that with you. As you’ll learn through the report, our positive impact ranges from investing in advanced water treatment technologies, to reducing our waste creation and embarking on our net zero mission, to nurturing supply chains with a focus on nature-first farming and closer to home, offering unrivalled apprenticeship and development opportunities for our people.  It’s been a huge team effort to reach this milestone, and a testament to so much continued effort, energy and commitment right across the company. That said, there is still much work ahead of us – but that is something we have never shied away from and we’re ready to accelerate action in 2025. • We are excited to share that St Austell Brewery has been shortlisted in THREE categories for next year’s Publican Awards. Widely regarded at the pub industry’s ‘Oscars’, last year we were delighted to win Best Pub Accommodation Provider during the ceremony in London (pictured above). Now we’re hoping to build on this success, after being shortlisted for the Best Brewing Pub Company, Best Managed Pub Company (2-50 sites) and Best New Site (for the Pier House) awards. Gareth James, Operations Director, shared the fantastic news with pub teams during their Christmas party celebrations last Thursday evening. He said: “This is really exciting news, and a true testament to all the hard work that’s been put in behind-the-scenes, and all of the fantastic people we’re lucky to work with. “Judging will start in the New Year, but before this we just want to say a massive ‘thank you’ to everyone who has made it possible for us to be shortlisted for three awards. This is a major achievement in itself and we should all feel very proud.” The annual Publican Awards - organised by trade publication, the Morning Advertiser - sees leading figures from some of the biggest and best pub companies in Britain gather to celebrate excellence throughout the sector. We have everything crossed for 2025 – but congratulations to all of our teams for enabling us to get this far!

  • ✨We are incredibly proud to celebrate Alice Norris as one of our rising stars within St Austell Brewery!✨. Over the years, Alice has worked her way up the hospitality ladder in many roles including being an Assistant Manager to our newly appointed General Manager at The Borough Arms and her journey has been nothing short of inspiring. 💪👀 Her exceptional leadership skills have made a real impact. By implementing one-to-one meetings, creating an open-door policy, and genuinely getting to know her team, Alice has improved team happiness and engagement – boosting our scores from 53% to 82% in just a year. She’s also driven significant improvements in our carvery offer, increasing profit margins by £11,500 in just three months. But Alice’s achievements go beyond business. As a Mental Health First Aider, she’s supported colleagues through challenging times, and her commitment to training and development is evident in her mentoring role, with 18.5% of her team now on apprenticeship courses. Alice’s dedication extends to the local community too, raising thousands for local charities and organising events like charity quiz nights for the RNLI and others. We are beyond thrilled to announce that Alice has been nominated for the prestigious 2025 Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards in the South West Hospitality Apprenticeship category. The awards, hosted by Truro and Penwith College, will take place at the Eden Project on February 7, and we couldn’t be prouder to see her recognised for her outstanding contributions. Here’s to even greater achievements ahead! 💪😎🍻

  • We know pubs are more than just places to grab a drink; they are the heartbeat of our community. They thrive on the connections we build and the wonderful people who walk through our doors every day. This festive season, we have clubbed together to give back to those who make our community shine! ✨🫱🏽🫲🏼 We gave our cherished guests and followers the chance to vote for those special community heroes or deserving individuals to enjoy a festive dinner in December with us. 🏆 🦸♀️ The winners were carefully decided amongst our pub teams and roughly 40 community heroes will be dining with us this December with their closest friends and family to celebrate the incredible work they have done in their local communities. It's our way of saying thanks to the vital, kind-hearted folk who keep our towns and cities alive with kindness. Globe Topsham - 'Our winner' - For supporting local, new mums through the journey of parenting, holding free support groups in her own home.' Crabshell - 'Our winner' - He provides a safe space for physical and mental growth, breaking stigmas around men's mental health. A true community hero, supporting charities and advocates for open conversations, making a lasting impact.' Rose and Crown - 'Our winner' - 'For all your tireless work to support those affected by dementia in our community.' Who would you nominate in your local community?

  • Last week, a handful of our talented budding chefs took their culinary skills to the bright lights of London, where they had the incredible opportunity to cook for a prestigious judging panel, including celebrity chef and mentor to the stars, Pierre Koffman. From starters to mains to show-stopping desserts, the dishes were meticulously crafted and presented, showcasing the true talent of our chefs. It was an exhilarating, nail-biting day, with high emotions and even higher standards—but Pierre himself was full of praise for the chefs’ efforts. 👀 👏 And the excitement didn’t end there—after much anticipation, the winners were announced, and it was smiles and bubbles all round! Congratulations to all who took part, and get ready to sample their delicious creations on our pub menus next year. 🏆 Looking to kickstart your own cheffing career? We’re always on the lookout for rising stars. Whether you’re a talented sous, chef de partie, or even the king of the kitchen, we have a wealth of opportunities waiting for you across our managed pubs. Head to our website to find out more and join our culinary team! 🧑🍳🍽️🔥 https://lnkd.in/eTpqhbub

  • With less than four weeks to go until this year's Celtic Beer Festival, we'd thought we'd give you a sneak peek at the live music line-up 👀 This annual event showcases a range of beers from across the South West and beyond, against a backdrop of fantastic live entertainment in the cellars of our Victorian brewery - all whilst raising money for the St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust. All profits from the event will be donated to our Charitable Trust, supporting communities, charities and individuals across the South West. To date, the Charitable Trust has raised more than £1,000,000 – and we’re determined to build on the success of its first 20 years, so that we can give back to our communities – from Land’s End to Bath. For those planning on joining us - please do! Tickets will be available on the door of the festival 🕺 ⏰ 11am- 11pm 📅 Saturday 30th November 📍 St Austell Brewery, PL25 4BY

We're delighted to share that Proper Job 0.5% IPA is now listed in 286 Morrisons stores across the country! 💙   We have been meticulously tweaking its recipe to create a low alcohol beer which celebrates Proper Job - our iconic IPA - complete with famous hop-filled flavour profile. Brewed with the same heartfelt craft, Proper Job 0.5% uses a special yeast to create a low-alcohol take on its bold original. The full-strength version of the beer is the best-selling bottled IPA in the off trade* and we are excited to see how Proper Job 0.5% performs in the no/low category. Ryan Crisp, Off Trade National Account Manager for St Austell Brewery, said: “We’re thrilled to partner with Morrisons as the first supermarket to stock our debut low-alcohol beer. Proper Job 0.5% has been the overwhelming favourite against many of our competitors in extensive taste tests and we can’t wait for more customers to be able to purchase it readily in stores across the country.” Harry Ball, Morrisons Buying Manager for Craft Beer & Ale added: "We're excited to have Proper Job 0.5% hitting Morrisons shelves this October. This is an important market for us and one we know customers enjoy exploring new options in, so we're thrilled to be able to offer it in our stores." The new listing comes off the back of our exciting Proper Job re-brand in March 2024, which features a striking new typeface and more prominent colourways, leaning on the brand and elevating its credentials. Proper Job 0.5% will be launching in Morrisons at an introductory More Card price of £1.50 per 500ml bottle until the 31st December. #staustellbrewery #beernews #brewing #lowalcohol #lowabv
