It's great to see successful applications of hydrogen powered vehicles in the construction industry 👷🚛 Balfour Beatty plc recently shared their success in retrofitting two salt spreader HGVs with hybrid hydrogen technology, calling the process "straightforward and effective" with "significant carbon savings." HGV fleets across a range of industries stand to benefit from similar retrofits, as well as investing in outright hydrogen-fuelled vehicles. Discover how we’re accelerating the adoption of hydrogen in collaboration with AVL. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/ekdzkDyd
🚀 We’re thrilled to announce that our M77 Hydrogen project is now live! This is a groundbreaking step towards establishing Scotland’s first construction hydrogen hub, where we’ll be showcasing the potential of hydrogen technology for heavy machinery. With the help of our amazing partners, ULEMCo Ltd, Logan Energy Limited, PlusZero Ltd and support from the The Scottish Government, we’ve already retrofitted three vehicles and set up hydrogen supply and refuelling infrastructure. Early results are showing up to a 26% reduction in carbon emissions! 🌱 Curious to know more about our journey, the challenges we’ve faced, and what’s next? "Hydrogen is a fuel that can't be overlooked for sustainable mobility." That's according to Shane Wilkinson at Auto Express, who highlights that FCEVs offer a strong alternative for HGVs, where electric trucks are currently hampered by battery capacity and having to recharge using the power grid. https://lnkd.in/eqU-Dz9w Spark EV Technology believes the future of HGVs lies in a combination of electric and hydrogen power. However, addressing range anxiety among fleet managers and drivers will be crucial to fully unlocking the potential of these vehicles. That’s why we are working with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers to build more accuracy into range predictions, using data from the driver, the route and the environment. GRIDSERVE recently revealed that the number of electric police, fire and ambulance vehicles have more than doubled in the last three years. 🚑🚓 They found there are more than 1,000 zero emissions emergency vehicles in operation across the UK, according to an in-depth Freedom of Information request. This comes after a study of one police force conducted by Cenex found that over 75 per cent of its fleet could be replaced by battery electric vehicles with no impact operations while lowering costs and reducing emissions by around half. Meanwhile, the NHS has established its Greener NHS team to explore ways to lower the organisation's carbon footprint. https://lnkd.in/eyHq9387
