One awards evening🎊 Two awards🏆🏆 Now that's value for money💸 Our Mobility Credits Project Manager, Luke Redfern, had an excellent night representing the #SolentFTZ at the City Transport & Traffic Innovation Magazine (CiTTi) Awards yesterday evening… walking away with two wins for “The Mobility-as-a-Service Award” and “The Transport Inclusivity Accessibility Award”. None of the Solent Future Transport Zone's achievements are possible with out the support of colleagues from our local authority partners: Dominic McGrath from Hampshire County Council, Stewart Chandler from Isle of Wight Council, Felicity Tidbury from Portsmouth City Council and Pete Boustred from Southampton City Council; and our lynchpin #MaaS partners Trafi with the ever-supportive Damian Bown. Luke reflected on the awards evening, "the FTZ team is having a genuine impact on people and their lives. Whether that’s helping them understand their travel options more, subsiding travel for some of the lowest income families to allow them to access goods and services, developing and delivering new transport services to improve connectivity, providing quick and helpful customer support when things do go wrong, or tackling air quality through better logistics – every day, hundreds (if not thousands) of people are subconsciously improving their lives from all the benefits of improved mobility… and that makes all the challenges worthwhile.".

We recently applied for planning permission to use part of a car park in Winchester as a last mile logistics hub, and are pleased to say that planning permission has been granted! The concept of a logistics hub is that delivery vans drop off parcels to a centrally located hub. The parcels are then sorted and grouped before being delivered to their final destinations using sustainable transport options such as cargo bikes. The aim is to reduce the number of vans delivering parcels around the city and replace these with cleaner, greener transport. It is hoped this approach will help ease traffic congestion, reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality in the city centre, as well as deliver improved business efficiencies by adopting more sustainable solutions. It’s been a journey of working with key stakeholders to identify suitable sites for a logistics hub and carefully assess the available options. Reaching this stage demonstrates the potential viability of car park space for logistics hubs. Thanks go to Decarbon Logistics Solutions (A Volofleet Portfolio Company) for their hard work on this. Our next steps are to further develop the design of the hub and appoint an operator. Watch this space for more! #SolentFTZ #micrologistics #sustainablelogistics #cleanair #sustainabletransport #innovation #logisticshub #winchester

Kicking off 2025 with a surprising figure from our micromobility schemes. Voi Technology parking bays are now a familiar sight for many across the Solent area. But did you know there are more than 570 places to hire and drop off e-bikes and e-scooters in Portsmouth, Southampton and on the Isle of Wight?! Specifically, there are ⭐ 202 spots in Portsmouth ⭐ 286 in Southampton ⭐ 88 on the Isle of Wight and even more sites will be added this year! These numbers combine the former Beryl bike parking bays - that have since been converted to Voi bays - with the existing Voi ones, rather than counting them separately. This is because many of the bays are co-located. If we counted them separately, the figures would be even higher! #2025 #micromobility #SolentFTZ #escooter #ebike #parking

Wrapping up the year with a few findings from our Drones for Medical Logistics project so far, which Sustainable Urban Logistics lead Rob Gloyns shared at this years' DroneX Tradeshow & Conference. 🛄 Drones need to be able to carry standard NHS containers. 🍃 Weather impacts year-round viability of drone services. 🔎 Legislation, regulation and airspace management protocols need to be adapted to facilitate routine drone medical logistics. 📳 Cancer medicines maintain their integrity despite vibration experienced during drone flights. 🗨️ Public engagement tools are essential for route permissions. Find out more at https://lnkd.in/eK_H8MRd. We're excited for all that's coming in the year ahead! Read about Southampton’s Sustainable Home Library service that we’re delivering as part of the Solent Future Transport Zone - https://lnkd.in/eBd_GWce One happy customer said “I have had a very good service from the Home Library Service. The selection of books has always been varied which makes them more interesting. The service allows those who are housebound, or nearly so, to have another dimension to their lives. It is a life saver for the disadvantaged”. The service is completely free, and all deliveries are made by green transport using either electric vans or cargo bikes. Anyone interested in signing up or finding out more can call the libraries team on 023 8083 3007 or email home.delivery@southampton.gov.uk. #SolentFTZ #sustainabletransport #libraries #mylibrary #cargobike #electricvan #southampton

The addition of Wightlink | Isle of Wight Ferries brings the number of mobility service providers integrated into Breeze, our multi-city MaaS app, to more than 10! Wightlink is a key transport provider connecting the Isle of Wight with the mainland. Wightlink joins Hovertravel Ltd as the water crossings available in Breeze. The integration enables Breeze users to include ferry travel in their journey planning as well as purchasing foot passenger ferry tickets. As well staying up to date with Wightlink service information, Breeze users benefit from seeing the best onward travel options – whether by train, bus, e-scooter or e-bike. #SolentFTZ #breeze #ferries #ferry #wightlink #portsmouth #isleofwight #lymington #yarmouth #sustainabletransport

Our micromobility team were pleased to receive a demo of Momentum Transport Consultancy's Micromobility Planner tool during its development phase. We are glad that our feedback was useful for developing this exciting new product, which aims to help local authorities make informed decisions about the design of their micromobility schemes, particularly in terms of service area, fleet size and parking bay locations. #SolentFTZ #micromobility #escooter #bikeshare #sustainabletransport #collaboration #localcouncil #localauthority
