If you’re in sixth form, I couldn’t recommend Social Mobility Business Partnership enough! A huge eye opener for me when I was in year 13, passionate about law but without a clue how to get started with no family or connections in the “corporate” world. I’ll never forget a group of wide eyed kids wondering round the likes of American Express’ legal department, negotiating at BBC Studios or debating with lawyers from Dentons. SMBP did wonders for my confidence, as well as their fabulous mentoring program reminding me constantly that you can do anything regardless of where you come from. #workexpierence #socialmobility #mentoring #bridgethegap

Thank you to the Social Mobility Business Partnership for organising the Public Speaking and Presentation Skills masterclass and for all who attended! It was a joy to deliver and interact with motivated and ambitious students and alumni of the SMBP. Presenting and public speaking is so common in the corporate world and yet, we hardly take the time to work on those skills deliberately, even though there is so much to perfect and adapt in the current world of online and hybrid meetings. It’s lovely to see students taking on their #professionaldevelopment so early in their careers! Looking forward to more opportunities to collaborate with the SMBP in the new year!

    Management Consultant Apprentice @PwC

🤌 Simply Lovely As as avid Formula 1 fan, the chance to take part in "The Next Grand Prix" was an exciting challenge. The task? Plan and pitch the Argentinian GP in a matter of hours. 🛞 Pressure... What pressure? The team and I went full throttle and proposed an Argentinian Grand Prix in the vibrant city of Buenos Aires. Colapinto, steaks, and high-speed corners, what's not to love? Working with a great team made this experience one to remember. We came up with a bid, tackled tight deadlines, and pitched to a panel of industry experts, all whilst having a good bit of fun. I was glad to make it to the finals, but the life of an apprentice doesn’t stop for pit stops, and my work commitments meant I couldn’t make it. Nonetheless, the skills I developed are skills pivotal to success within consultancy, whether I'm liaising with stakeholders or presenting ideas to clients, the lessons from such an opportunity have been invaluable and motivating. Big thanks to Formula 1 & Social Mobility Business Partnership, for making this happen. Buenos Aires isn't on the calendar (yet), but I'm proud of what we pulled off! Now, if Formula 1 ever needs a Management Consultant Apprentice (or maybe just someone to bring back the Dutch grand prix), you know where to find me. • We're thrilled to see the highlights from the SMBP x Formula 1 The Next Grand Prix Workshop, where students took on the challenge of creating their own fictional bid for a new Formula One World Championship location! 🏎️ 🏁 As part of this unique initiative between SMBP & F1, students gained hands-on experience, working in teams and taking on different roles to showcase their talent, creativity, and teamwork to pitch their bid to experts at F1 and host law firms. Many thanks to A&O Shearman, Clifford Chance, Hogan Lovells and Travers Smith for your support in making this possible! Well done to everyone who took part, and congratulations to the final winners 🌟👏

Can you imagine planning and pitching a new Formula 1 Grand Prix location in just one day? This year, we challenged 227 students aged 16 to 18 to do exactly that. Known as The Next Grand Prix, the competition is in its third year and is run in partnership with the charity Social Mobility Business Partnership and has so far seen 400 students take on the challenge and gain valuable work experience. Designed by Formula 1, the day-long workshop tests students to create a fictional bid for a new Formula One World Championship location, with students working in teams and taking on various business roles before pitching their idea to a panel of experts from Formula 1 and host law firms. This year, workshops were hosted at four international law firms: A&O Shearman, Clifford Chance, Hogan Lovells, and Travers Smith, and the winning team from each workshop was invited to Formula 1’s state-of-the-art Media & Technology Centre to compete in the Championship Final. The competition was intense - take a look at how the students fared and find out the winner of The Next Grand Prix below. #F1

On Thursday last week, Collins Aerospace in Plymouth, UK, had the pleasure of hosting students from the Social Mobility Business Partnership programme for their Work Insight and Skills Experience week!   The students immersed themselves in a dynamic business challenge, where they pitched innovative product ideas supported by financial calculations and market research. They even had the chance to engage with our TERPROM simulator!
