Transforming your firm's social media to become a source of real business wins | Founder of Social-Hire.com, a B2B social selling agency | Social media marketing is like a Rubik's Cube. I'll help your business solve it!

Something really positive happened here on LinkedIn in the last weeks, did you notice? Lots of people opened up about what a terrible time they've had this last year. Don't get me wrong, I'm not pleased anyone's been through the wringer... ... but I am pleased that we all got to see a bit more of the reality of what life has been like for lots of small businesses this last year. To be clear, lots of small business owners have faced a real uphill battle in 2024. Seeing a feed full of everyone else saying how great things have been going really doesn't help someone who's struggling along. Whereas knowing others are struggling too provides some reassurance and some camaraderie. I have thanked many of you for being more open about what you've been experiencing in your business, please keep that going in 2025. That doesn't mean we need to have a feed full of negativity and doom. But a healthy dose of reality is far more useful than the pretence that everything's rosy! Or is it just me?!

  • 😒 Two-thirds of you are irritated by this! Having a homepage feed on LinkedIn that just isn't showing you content you're interested in! That was what you told us in a recent poll we ran. It's a major LinkedIn frustration! So we're thrilled that Beth Granger gave us some great ideas on how to transform the relevance of your homepage feed. It's a really short watch - which will hopefully be a real help to you today! Do you think these ideas will be useful to you? #LinkedinTips #linkedin #SocialMedia

What's better when it comes to networking on LinkedIn - quality or quantity? Jen Corcoran shared with us why you should focus on quality over quantity - and how you can go about cultivating a targeted network to get better results for your business. Are you looking for a new job? 👀 If so, here's a hidden feature on LinkedIn to help you get found by more recruiters looking to hire someone for your ideal job. 💡 LinkedIn has a tool that allows you to specify the job you'd like to secure, which then provides you with all the most important keywords your LinkedIn profile is missing (which means you're not showing up in searches when recruiters look for people with those skills or keywords!). It's called the resume builder - and, whilst it disappeared from the drop-down menu on our profiles here, it's still working and is hidden away here: https://lnkd.in/emueAfcY For example, if I say I'd like to become a Director of Finance, LinkedIn highlights I'm missing loads of important keywords and skills, such as: ❌ Financial Analysis ❌ Budgeting ❌ Analytical Skills ❌ Financial Reporting ❌ Forecasting ❌ Auditing ❌ International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) ❌ Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) ❌ Cash Flow ❌ Management Accounting ❌ .... and the list goes on! Have a try of it and let me know if it helps!

What LinkedIn help did people need the most this last year? 👉 How to get a conversation started with new connections was the top challenge, at least if the data from our YouTube channel is anything to go by. Of 90+ video snippets, this clip with Beth Granger and I was the most viewed of all. Some of the key points to emerge were: 🔥 Your approach may need to differ depending on whether someone requested to connect to you, or you initiated the connection. 🔥 Try to get the conversation started naturally, by talking about one of their posts or comments, or a common interest you noticed on their profile. 🔥 Experiment with using LinkedIn voice notes, they can be a very effective way of building rapport with new contacts. 🔥 Reflect on whether your message would feel out of place if you were to take this approach in an in-person situation (like a coffee break at a conference). If it wouldn't feel natural to say that in-person, chances are it's wide of the mark in a LinkedIn message too. Hope this is a help to those of you easing your way back into work today! What other approaches have you found work, or additional advice would you share?

  • 💥 Ensuring brand consistency across all marketing touchpoints is a challenge. A brand is so much more than a logo or imagery. A brand is how you make your customers feel - and it’s built by taking a consistent approach across every interaction they have with your brand. Here are some thoughts that hopefully will help ensure your social media strategy reflects your brand identity... #SocialMedia #branding #BrandIdentity https://lnkd.in/ebHYQAM2

  • LinkedIn and social media are proving to be great tools for getting a foot in the door with potential new consulting clients. In this one-hour roundtable discussion, Social-Hire.com Founder Tony Restell will start by sharing the exact approaches he's seeing working for consulting firms across the US, Canada and UK. The discussion will then be opened up for others to share their experiences of what's working and what's not working. As spaces are limited, please do register early to avoid disappointment - and let us know should you subsequently find you are unable to attend. This may sound obvious... ... but if you want dramatically different results in 2025, then you're going to have to dramatically change what you do. When it comes to marketing you and your business, be honest with yourself about the results you've been getting. 🤏 if you've been getting great results, then small tweaks and changes are all you need to worry about. 🤦 but if you've not been getting great results, then just committing to being a bit more consistent or doing a bit more is unlikely to turn things around, is it? With that said, what are you going to change and do differently in 2025?

  • "How can I get more engagement on LinkedIn?" This has to be one of the most common questions we get asked - and so here, we've pulled together some ideas on ramping up your engagement from Gus Bhandal, Mic Adam and David Petherick, including: ⭐ Storytelling and visual imagery both really help ramp up engagement rates ⭐ Your own engagement activity on other people's posts is arguably the single biggest thing that'll drive more engagement on your own posts ⭐ Dwell time on posts is now an important consideration if you want to get greater visibility and more engagement ⭐ When used intelligently and intentionally, polls can play a valuable part in increasing engagement AND in making yourself a valuable source of insights for your network Hope this gives you some great ideas to try out over the coming weeks. What's the biggest thing you're going to be focusing on to improve your own engagement out of interest? #LinkedinTips #SocialSelling #PersonalBranding https://lnkd.in/eDx_aHF2
