  • With generous support from City Bridge Foundation the Smallwood Trust is pleased to award £800,000 through our Local Resilience Fund to 17 organisations working with women furthest from mainstream support in Hackney and Newham. The Local Resilience Fund was created by the community, for the community through a co-design and participatory grant-making model in which small organisations working directly with asylum seekers, refugees, and migrant women helped to shape the Fund and sat on the decision-making panel. By supporting these amazing organisations, the Smallwood Trust is helping them to address the racial and social justice challenges that often accompany gendered poverty. • Following on from the far-right riots last month, we know that many services we fund – especially those working on the frontline – were forced to close for the safety of staff, volunteers and beneficiaries.   We do not - and will never - tolerate racism or Islamophobia. Smallwood will always be proud to fund organisations and services that work to make the UK a safer place for refugees, asylum-seekers and migrants.   As part of our response, we have written an official statement that you can view on our website or by clicking below. Charity/Non-Profit mates... B-Radical’s main focus is to make job opportunities accessible to people at all experience levels and all walks of life, so we’re always excited when an organisation approaches us with a specific view of encouraging applicants with lived experience – and those who are underrepresented in the labour market – to apply for their roles. And, more importantly, when they’re taking positive action to ensure that this is possible. We’ve teamed up (yet again!) with the Smallwood Trust, a charity with a mission to enable women to become financially resilient by equipping them with the skills they need to secure a confident financial future. They provide grants to organisations and individuals and work with selected partners to help women overcome financial adversity and to improve their social and emotional well-being. By working with Smallwood, you are helping to change women’s lives. Smallwood are looking for an experienced charity or non-profit leader to join them as their Head of Programmes, to play a wide ranging and key role within the leadership structure, working closely with the CEO, the Grants Team and the Board. This role is a 12-month maternity cover, from August 2024 – July 2025 and will have 7 direct reports. This role will be remote with 1-2 meetings/visits per month to Smallwood’s offices in Malvern, Worcestershire, or other project locations. The salary for this position is £55,000. If you are interested in the role and think you could be a good fit but you’re looking for condensed or flexible working hours, we’d still really love to hear from you!
