🌍✨ The Power of Truly Connecting ✨🌍 Last night, I attended the 2nd session of the Coaches Rising, #ReimagineLeadership course, expertly led by @AmyElizabeth-Fox. It was deep, oh-so powerful, and continues to resonate for me as I type. The key takeaway? To be truly transformative, we need to bring our whole selves into our coaching. And even more importantly, we need to create the space for our clients to do the same. This isn’t always easy in a world that often rewards surface-level engagement, but last night’s experience proved just how impactful it can be. Over 400 global coaches came together, and in just 1.5 hours, we meditated, collaborated, and learned side by side. The connections we built weren’t just professional niceties; they were deep and rooted in a shared understanding. Some of the blessings shared were humbling and reminded me of the incredible depth we can reach when we are brave enough to show up fully. In coaching - and in life - connecting isn’t just a nice-to-have; it’s the foundation for growth, trust, and authentic change. I’m excited to share that our Sexual Harassment in the Workplace course has been updated to reflect the new Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 regulations. This amendment places a crucial duty on employers to take “all reasonable steps” to prevent third-party harassment, extending protection to include clients, customers, and other non-employees, not just colleagues. As a result, employers can now be held liable if they fail to protect their staff from such harassment. What a fantastic day of inspiration at the #barefoot24 conference! It all kicked off with a few cheeky drinks the night before with the fabulous Rebecca Stevens. The conference opened with Kim Morgan MCC who set the tone for the day, she was followed by Emma Jones, founder of Enterprise Nation, discussing the critical role coaching plays in supporting small business growth. Her insights were a timely reminder of the impact we can make in our communities. I'm glad to do my bit as a mentor within the Help to Grow Mentor Programme. We then heard from John Perry, who delved into attachment theory and its significance in shaping our sense of belonging. This theme was echoed by Andy Chandler PCC, who explored Systems Coaching and how it can foster connection within teams. It’s so important for us to cultivate environments where everyone feels valued and welcome. After lunch, the talented James Sills had us all up singing along to Jackie Wilson’s “Higher and Higher,” which lifted all of our spirits! The tone went down slightly as Bernice Hewson MA., BSc. Hewson challenged us to engage in open conversations about race and racism, and how as coaches we have a responsibility to make everyone feel included. To wrap up the day, Owen Eastwood managed to seamlessly weave in all the key takeaways and shared a powerful Māori poem about belonging, leaving us all with a sense of unity and purpose.
