Thank you to HSDC Alton for inviting two of our Systems Engineers, Oscar Miles and Vinayak Narayan, to talk about their journey into working within the space sector last week. HSDC have recently established a Space Technologies Programme which is being delivered in collaboration with Space South Central and a number of industry partners. Engaging with children and young people about the range of careers on offer allows them to make informed choices about the courses they choose to study. #SiriusAnalysis #SystemsEngineering #SpaceTech #STEM #SpaceIndustry #SpaceJobs #STEMSubjects

In the latest edition of the Nuclear Industry Association's magazine, one of our Principal Consultants, Amritpal Agar, along with our associates FRANS BOYDON NUCLEAR CONSULTANCY SERVICES LTD and Mark Higson, discuss how to unlock the economic potential of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). SMRs are becoming a key part of the UK's target of generating 24GW of new nuclear power for 2050 in the drive towards Net Zero. Built in factories and assembled on-site, SMRs could reduce construction times and bring much needed predictability to project costs, often known for spiralling. The article discusses how standardising a licensed design is key to reducing the overall cost of nuclear deployment, with the full article on pages 8-9. #SiriusAnalysis #Nuclear #NuclearDeployment #SmallModularReactors #NuclearConsultancy #BusinessCaseDevelopment #NuclearIndustryAssociation #NetZero https://lnkd.in/e7k45cSW

Is data objective and aren't facts, facts? Simply put, no. Facts are made up of the information that is available at that point in time. Those facts could be influenced by bias, either by the person sharing the facts or the person interpreting them and this applies to data as well. Bias can be found in everything from the data sample that is presented to the colours or shapes used to present it. This can have a very real influence on the message that someone takes away. We all hold engrained bias's which are made up of our life experiences, whether these are unconscious or conscious, and it's important to be aware of them. That's why it's important to use a framework when thinking about how to visualise data, considering the trustworthiness, accessibility and elegance of what you're presenting. As an independent company we are able to stay solution agnostic when presenting our findings, helping to minimise bias when helping to solve complex problems and supporting our clients to make informed investment decisions. Have you ever thought about how your own bias can influence the data you present? #SiriusAnalysis #DataVisualistion #SolutionAgnostic #PresentingData #Bias #TheHumanElement #BiasInData

We work with a number of national and local charities as well as community groups who have played a part in the lives of our team. As an organisation we also have a love of fitness and encouraging a healthy lifestyle so we’re proud to sponsor the Fareham and Gosport Rugby team this season who one of our Senior Consultants, Iain Grice, plays for. Good luck this season! #SiriusAnalsysis #TeamSirius #SupportLocal #SocialResponsibility

In the latest edition of Engineering Magazine, one of our Principal Consultants, Amritpal Agar, discusses the financial case for Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). The UK's energy roadmap sets out that 25% of our energy mix will be produced by nuclear by 2050, but nuclear power capacity is currently on the decline due to a greater number of sites being decommissioned than being approved. In this article Amritpal discusses the benefits of including SMRs and recommends the cost models to support this deployment if the UK is to achieve it's Net Zero commitments. The link to Engineering Magazine is in the comments. #SiriusAnalysis #NuclearPower #NetZero #NuclearConsultancy #SmallModularReactors #EngineeringMagazine #EnergyMix

Last week Dr Sanathanan Rajagopal and Del Roberts took part in a pilot offering ‘insight days’ organised by and held at the BCC in Chippenham. Instead of traditional work experience 'insight days' offer teenagers and young people an opportunity to gain an understanding of what it’s like to work within a certain position. The students had 'speed dating' style sessions with a range of senior individuals where they could understand more about different careers and the paths to get there, with no questions off the table! We’re looking forward to working with the BCC on delivering more of these days in 2025. #SiriusAnalysis #BusinessCyberCebtre #TeamSirius #WorkExperience #WalkInMyShoes

Boys do cry. November marks Men's Mental and Physical Health awareness month and aims to encourage open conversations and highlight the problems that are experienced disproportionately by men. One of the reasons that men's mental health still needs to be highlighted falls to the stigmas around men talking and sharing how they feel, which can start from a very young age. With suicide still the biggest killer of men under 50 we'd urge everyone to use this as a gentle nudge to check in on a man in your life with R U OK's ALEC approach: 💙Ask - "you haven't seemed like yourself, are you feeling ok?" 💙Listen - and follow up with open questions "that can't be easy, how long have you felt like that?" 💙Encourage action - focus on things that could help for example are they getting enough sleep, exercising and eating well? Ask if anything has helped in the past. 💙Check in - suggest you catch up soon, this shows that you care and you can see if things have improved. #Movember #MensMentalHealth #SiriusAnalysis #TeamSirius #MentalHealth #SuicidePrevention
