“I’ve never had a gift for Christmas Day” James became homeless when he was 16. He never had a Christmas present. While most of us were celebrating with family and friends, enjoying good food and exchanging gifts with our loved ones, James was sofa-surfing. He wasn’t neglected or abused, but poverty and his mother’s ill-health left him with nowhere to go. But Scottish charity Quarriers was able to support James with some essentials and treats, including some festive food and a warm blanket. They even wrapped it for him - his first Christmas present. This Christmas, James will celebrate in his own one-bedroom flat provided by the local authority. Quarriers supports young people in Northeast Scotland who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Unfortunately, Christmas gifts aren’t considered a funding priority and Quarriers depends on the generosity of donations to provide young people a gift to open on Christmas day. This year, the Signal team are proud to support this cause by providing toiletries packs, festive food hampers, Christmas parcels and home-sweet-home bundles. We hope we can inspire you to do the same. Just £15 would provide someone like James with a Festive Food Hamper and let them know that they are worthy, that they matter and deserve things that most of us take for granted. To find out more, and make a donation, please head to the Quarriers website. https://lnkd.in/eJJdnCqG #homelessness #youth #charity #donations

Thanks to Pict Offshore and Ørsted for trusting us to produce this video. Congratulations on your epic milestone 👍
Raising the bar for offshore safety with more than 10,000 safe transfers using a new technology! In offshore wind operations, safety is everything. Transferring technicians from a crew transfer vessel (CTV) to a wind turbine can be physically demanding and risky. Through use of innovative technology such as ‘Get Up Safe’ (GUS), it has been possible to transfer technicians fast and safely. We’ve cooperated with Pict Offshore to implement the GUS system at Hornsea 2 Offshore Wind Farm. The GUS system seamlessly hoists and lowers technicians, eliminating the boat landing ladder and the need to step from the vessel to the ladder, which can be very challenging in rough weather. Now, with 10,000 transfers completed, we’re excited to keep pushing the boundaries to use new technologies in offshore wind to create more efficiency and safety! Watch the full video to see the GUS system in action 🎥⬇️

After just over two and a half years of operation at Ørsted's Hornsea 2 offshore windfarm, ‘Get Up Safe’ aka GUS systems have performed more than 10,000 safe transfers, replacing boat landing step-across and ladder climbing as the method of access from Crew Transfer Vessel for all 165 wind turbines. We’re really pleased to now share this video, which describes some of the journey to develop and establish the GUS system as an entirely new category of personnel transfer for offshore wind. #innovation , #offshorewind, #scotlandjobs

Aberdeen film company Signal support VisitAberdeenshire Aberdeen based film company Signal has completed a new set of corporate films for VisitAberdeenshire – the latest production in a long running collaboration between the two. For this project, Signal produced a series of five films to promote each of VA’s core services. The films have an additional function as tools to help recruitment to the organisation. Signal’s creative approach was to focus on VisitAberdeenshire’s people; four of the films followed a day in the life of members of each team, starring and narrated by them. This latest campaign of films is being distributed over several weeks via VisitAberdeenshire’s LinkedIn channel. Some are already in circulation, with others in the pipeline. These include films for: The Marketing and Communications team, which creates inspirational advertising to promote experiences in North-east Scotland to audiences in the UK. This film is already released and can be viewed here. The Tourism Development team, which provides advice and support to help local tourism businesses develop skills and products to meet demand from their ever-changing markets. The Aberdeen Convention Bureau, which connects conference and convention clients with their perfect venues, accommodation and activities, and provide event planning support. And the Core Services team, which supports their operations, Board, and Volunteers programme. They also work with the Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) Foundation to promote apprenticeships and careers in tourism, to schools and colleges. You can watch the film here. Finally, Signal created a Corporate film for the organisation as a whole, showcasing all these services, and illustrating the positive impact VisitAberdeenshire has on the region. Chris Foy, chief executive officer, VisitAberdeenshire, said: “We hugely enjoyed the creative process – from initial concepts to on location filming, Signal brilliantly captured the essence of what we do. The signal team’s creative spark, attention to detail and clear vision really brought the VisitAberdeenshire story to life.” Signal’s creative director, Mark Turner, said, “These are just the latest films we have produced for VisitAberdeenshire in a relationship which spans several years. As a local company we are always delighted to work with them to promote everything our beautiful region has to offer.” These corporate films come soon after Signal completed this film promoting VisitAberdeenshire’s dedicated army of Volunteers, and the work they do to promote the region to cruise ship visitors. DeepOcean Sets Company Record in Heavy Lifting 🏋️♂️💡 🏆 After two years of preparation, the 30” Subsea Isolation Valve (SSIV) from the Miller field on the UK Continental Shelf was recently recovered and transferred onshore for recycling 🌊 One of the North Sea’s biggest SSIV’s was lifted from the seabed and safely delivered quayside marking the completion of the bp Don & Miller decommissioning project. Measuring almost 30m x 20m x 6m and weighting approximately 400 tonnes, this subsea structure required extraordinary efforts from the engineering teams onshore in Norway and UK as well as offshore personnel onboard Edda Freya. The vessel 600Te main crane was configured in a special high-lift mode for the first time since its delivery in 2016, making this one of the biggest lifts that DeepOcean has undertaken. Highlights of the campaign: 🔷 DeepOcean deployed four vessels from the fleet to deliver 11 vessel campaigns 🔷 DeepOcean removed approximately 1,650 tonnes of materials 🔷 A ROV 3D survey was conducted to develop a digital twin of the subsea structure. This was used to reverse engineer the lift points and confirm overall structural integrity. 🔷 The overall weight for the SSIV was reduced by cutting off elements with a subsea diamond wire saw, enabling safe recovery. 🔷 The diverless campaign was carried out solely using ROV’s and other remote technologies, thus minimising the risk to people. 🔷 This is the largest structure transferred to Aberdeen South Harbour to date. 🔷 The scopes were completed safely with no reportable incidents. The safe and successful decommissioning of the Don and Miller fields is testament to the innovative engineering and ‘can do’ attitude of the DeepOcean team. 📺 Check out the video highlights below
