  • We had a fabulous time celebrating Christmas at DoubleTree by Hilton Leeds, with some fabulous food, lots of drinks and some overdue catch ups. We gave out our annual awards, celebrated some promotions, and got extra excited about 2025. It was a well-deserved treat to round off an absolutely smashing year! A big thank you to our whole team for being the amazing people you are, for all your hard work, and we definitely couldn't do it without Sue, Kayley and Lucy. Merry Christmas to you all!   • Nearly half of Brits forgo more than a week’s holiday each year 🏖️🏞️ A recent study has shown that UK workers leave an estimated £6.6 billion worth of annual leave unused each year. This might sound crazy to some of us, but it's typically younger employees, particularly those aged 18-24, who are more likely to not take all their days. Reasons they gave included concerns about workloads, fear of negative perceptions, and workplace culture that discourages taking time off. If your staff aren't taking time off, it will impact their well-being, which will in turn impact their productivity when they start to feel burnt out and dissatisfied with their job. If this sounds like where you work, it could be time for a change. Experts suggest employers should foster a culture that values taking time off, ensuring workloads are manageable and that leave policies are clear and supportive.     Two anniversaries on the same day?! 🥳 Both Lawrie and Hannah started on the same day, two years apart. Lawrie's celebrating 3 years, and we've had Blakey's marketing skills on board for a whole year! In that time, she's refreshed our brand, our advertising, rebuilt our website and started an apprenticeship. Next year holds loads of exciting things too! Lawrie's manager, Han, had a few things she wanted to say: “Lawrie is a dream to manage – he's hard-working, loyal, dedicated and so driven. Not only that but he is a phenomenal support to the wider team! In the three years he's been with Sewell Wallis, he's developed incredibly quickly, proving his natural affinity for recruitment.
