"Oh sweet! What’s your business?" Since launching @seantuition in July, I’ve been asked this question countless times—and I absolutely love it every single time. Why? Because it gives me the chance to talk about something I'm incredibly proud of: my own business. Not everyone gets to say that, and I don’t take it for granted. If you’re an entrepreneur or even considering starting your own venture, take a moment to appreciate those first steps. They’re tough, but they’re also the foundation of something amazing. So, what is SeanTuition all about? SeanTuition is a tutoring company that’s built on two key principles: learning to learn and taking care of our tutors. As someone who was home-educated, I had to teach myself subjects that didn’t naturally interest me. Take Biology, for example—sorry to all the bio enthusiasts out there, but it wasn’t my thing. To make it manageable, I started experimenting with ways to "hack" my brain. I discovered that I’m a visual learner who thrives on simplifying complex topics with creative, sometimes quirky, comparisons. In doing so, I stumbled upon a powerful realization: I wasn’t just learning Biology; I was learning how I learn. This understanding turned studying into a more efficient and enjoyable process. That’s exactly what SeanTuition aims to offer our students. We don’t just help them pass exams; we empower them to understand themselves as learners. It’s about giving them the tools to succeed academically and the confidence to tackle any subject with their own personalized strategies. And let’s not forget our incredible tutors! We carefully select A* students who are passionate about the subjects they teach. We’re a small team, more like a family really, and we believe in looking after our tutors just as much as we do our students. When our tutors feel supported and valued, they can bring their best selves to every session. I’m so proud of what the team has already achieved. From organizing marketing campaigns to securing our first students, we’ve hit the ground running. Here’s to many more milestones and fun times ahead!

  • Well done everyone who got their results today! Entry to SeanTuition's summer school might be over but admissions start again from next week. Message us or visit our website at www.seantuition.com to find out more!

Congratulations to Everyone Receiving Their GCSE Results Today! 🎉 To everyone who opened their GCSE results today—huge congratulations on your achievements! Whether you smashed it, did better than expected, or found the results a bit challenging, today marks the end of a significant journey, and you should be proud of what you've accomplished. GCSEs are a big milestone, but remember, they’re just one step in your academic and personal journey. The skills you’ve developed—resilience, dedication, and the ability to overcome challenges—will serve you well in whatever path you choose next. If your results were everything you hoped for, fantastic! Celebrate your success and get excited about what’s ahead. 🎓 If things didn’t go as planned, don’t worry. This is just the beginning, not the end. Some of the most successful people in the world faced setbacks, learned from them, and used those experiences to fuel their future success. Take a moment to reflect, regroup, and then look ahead to your next chapter, whether that’s A levels, T levels, or something completely different. The most important thing is to keep moving forward with confidence and curiosity. Wishing you all the best as you step into the future. You've got this! #GCSE #Resultsday #Maths #English #Alevels

  • Highly reccomend reading this post if you're a student considering a gap year!

“Should I take a gap year?” This question might be on your mind after receiving your A-level results, and it’s a big one. When I opened my results letter last year, I was thrilled to see A*A*AA—better than I had predicted. Yet, despite the excellent grades, I found myself heading to a university course I wasn’t truly passionate about: PPE at Birmingham. My dream was Warwick or King’s, but rejections led me elsewhere. In hindsight, taking a gap year might have been the smarter choice. I was determined to stick to my plan of starting university at 18, despite advice from friends and family. But sometimes, we need to step back and ask ourselves: Is this really what I want? I ended up dropping out and taking half a gap year anyway. I don’t regret it. My brief university experience taught me valuable lessons about independence, university expectations, and even how to properly prepare my meals. Now, as I prepare to start at UCL, I feel much more confident and ready. So, should you take a gap year? It really depends on your situation. Maybe you’re considering resitting some A-levels to get into a better university, or maybe you just need a well-deserved break after the intensity of exams. Both are valid. If you’re unsure, start by doing some research—UCAS has great resources on gap years (https://lnkd.in/e8hmzspD). Talk to your family and friends, and most importantly, listen to your gut. The right decision is the one that makes you happiest in the long term. Don’t be afraid to keep an open mind about taking a gap year. It could be the best decision you make. What are your thoughts on gap years? I’d love to hear your experiences—share below!

  • POLITICS & ECONOMICS STUDENTS: STAY INFORMED THIS WEEK Here are some key developments to watch out for in the news this week: Inflation Figures 📈 This week, the ONS will release the inflation figures for July, and they’re significant for two main reasons: Politics: These are the first inflation figures under the new Labour government. Starmer and Reeves have made the economy their top priority, so pay close attention to how they react, the narrative they push, and any policy hints we might see ahead of the autumn statement. Economics: Along with the figures, the ONS provides an analysis of why prices have risen. It can be complex, but try to identify where demand-pull and cost-push inflation are at play. Musk & Trump: A Conversation to Watch 🗣️ Today, Elon Musk and Donald Trump are set to have a discussion, likely touching on free speech and social media. Their relationship has been rocky, so this could be interesting. Look out for any hints on Trump’s potential plans if he returns to the presidency, as well as the broader debate on media influence, particularly in light of recent events like the Southport Riots. Stay Updated with Government News & ONS 📊 For Politics and Economics students at any level, the government’s official communications and the ONS releases are invaluable resources. The government’s website offers all statements in one place, providing insight into their current agenda and messaging. Meanwhile, the ONS publishes daily data on the state of the economy, along with a timetable for upcoming announcements. Staying on top of these will help you understand the latest trends and policy directions. https://lnkd.in/gRdy4Zn https://lnkd.in/eT5kSpaV #Economics #Politics #News

  • 🚀 Quick Tips for Nailing Economics A-Level Essays on Inflation 🖋️ Structure Your Argument Start by clearly defining inflation in your introduction—what it is, how it's measured, and why it matters. This sets a strong foundation for your essay and shows the examiner you understand the basics. 📉 Link Inflation to Exports Discuss how inflation can lead to less exports. When domestic prices rise, our goods become more expensive for foreign buyers. Tie this to a decrease in demand and potential negative effects on the economy, like job losses in export-driven industries. Use real-world examples to illustrate your points and make your argument more compelling. 📉 Impact on Standard of Living Lower exports can contribute to a lower standard of living. Explain how inflation erodes purchasing power, making everyday goods and services more expensive. This can lead to a decline in consumer confidence and spending, further dragging down economic growth. Be sure to explore both short-term and long-term effects in your analysis. 💰 Consider the Budget Deficit Inflation can also impact the budget deficit. Discuss how higher prices lead to increased government spending, particularly on indexed benefits and public sector wages. At the same time, tax revenues may not keep pace, widening the deficit. Explore the potential consequences, such as the need for austerity measures or increased borrowing, and how these can further strain the economy. 🔗 Connect the Dots Remember, examiners love to see interconnected thinking. Show how these elements—exports, standard of living, and the budget deficit—are all interrelated. Use diagrams if applicable to illustrate these connections and make your essay more dynamic. 🧠 Practice Makes Perfect Finally, practice is key. Review past papers for both the AQA and Edexcel specifications to see how these themes are tested. The more you write, the better you'll get at crafting well-structured, insightful essays that hit all the key points. Let’s ace those Economics essays! 💼 #Economics #ALevel #Inflation #EssayWriting #StudyTips #SeanTuition

  • Students! Studying and resting are not opposites. Read this post that our A-Level Politics and Economics tutor has written:

Working and resting aren’t opposites! But sometimes they are, and it’s important to know when. This thought came to me today as I sit in Costa Coffee in Hendon ☕ after spending the first few hours of my morning working on SeanTuition and learning 📚. I dove into economics, politics, and explored philosophical and religious questions of great significance! Then I realized, how come I spent the last few hours of my morning undeterred by the amount of work I wanted to get through? Even as I write this, I face a deadline for completing this post 🕒 and then SeanTuition meetings for the rest of the day. It came to me: We always talk about work-life balance like it’s a scale ⚖️. Work on one side, life on the other—reading, going out, having fun. But is it really right to see them as separate things? Instead of thinking about work and rest as enemies, what if they’re actually friends? Work gives us purpose and growth 💼, while rest gives us energy and creativity 🌟. Both are important, and finding the right mix can make life more satisfying. The key is to recognize when work and rest can go hand in hand 🤝 and when they need to be separate. Sometimes work is energizing, and sometimes we just need to chill 😌. Knowing this helps us stay productive and happy. I’ve experienced both, and both can be challenging to navigate. As Aristotle supposedly said, “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” Each person has their own scale. Some don’t have a scale and can work all day long because their work gives them energy 🔋. There is no right or wrong; it’s about knowing your own scale and adjusting your life around it.

  • 🌟 What to Do on Results Day: A Guide to Navigating Your A-Level Results 🌟 With just over a week to go until A-Level results day, it’s normal to feel a whirlwind of emotions—dread, excitement, or everything in between. Here’s a practical guide to help you through the lead-up and the big day itself: 1. Enjoy Your Summer Holiday 🌞 You’ve just completed one of the biggest exams of your journey in life, so it’s natural to feel anxious about the results. However, it’s important to focus on enjoying your summer while you can. The outcome is beyond your control now, so make the most of your freedom before diving into preparations for university or apprenticeships. 2. Morning of Results Day 🕗 Treat it like any other normal morning—get a good night’s sleep and eat a proper breakfast. Like me, you might feel a surge of adrenaline (Sorry to that one guy I knocked over on the tube, I was in a rush to get my train), so stay calm and focused. Aim to get your results as early as possible; the sooner you know, the sooner you can celebrate or start exploring alternative options through clearing. 3. You Got the Grades! 🎉 Congratulations! Take a moment to bask in your success—you’ve worked incredibly hard, and your efforts have paid off. Celebrate your achievement. Your success is well-earned, so enjoy it and be proud of yourself. 4. Didn’t Get the Grades? 📉 It’s okay to feel upset; take some time to process your emotions. But remember, it’s not the end of the road. CALL CALL CALL! Universities often accept students through clearing, even if your grades are below their usual requirements. Be prepared for a busy few hours on the phone—keep hydrated and stay persistent. If clearing doesn’t work out, consider taking a gap year. It could give you the time you need to reapply or resit your A-Levels. A gap year can also be an opportunity to rest and reflect. Even if it feels counterintuitive, find reasons to celebrate your journey so far. Completing your A-Levels is an achievement in itself, no matter the results. Best of luck to everyone awaiting their results! You’ve got this! 💪🎓

  • 3 Ways Interest Rate Cuts Affect the Economy (Edexcel and AQA) The Bank of England's recent decision to cut its interest rate from 5.25% to 5% has significant implications for the economy. As an A-level Economics student, understanding these impacts can give you a real-world edge in your studies. Here's how you can leverage this knowledge in your exams: 1. Expansionary Monetary Policy Aggregate Demand and Aggregate Supply Interest rates represent the cost of borrowing in the economy. When the BoE cuts interest rates, borrowing becomes cheaper. This can lead to increased investment and consumption. Businesses are likely to borrow more to invest in capital machinery, boosting both Aggregate Demand (AD) and potentially Aggregate Supply (AS). For consumers, lower interest rates reduce the incentive to save and increase the incentive to spend, further driving up AD. All of this in turn causes demand-led and supply-led growth, but could also lead to inflation if AD rises more than AS. 2. Improving Fiscal Balance Governments also benefit from lower interest rates as it reduces the cost of servicing public debt. With lower interest payments, the government can allocate more funds to other areas such as social care and infrastructure projects. This increased public expenditure can further stimulate AD, creating a positive feedback loop for economic growth, but again possible inflationary impacts. However, it's important to note that this is more of an indirect effect and may not be immediate. 3. Exchange Rate Dynamics Interest rates have a complex impact on the international economy. A cut in interest rates can lead to a depreciation of the Pound due to a decrease in the inflow of foreign capital seeking higher interest rates (often referred to as 'hot money' flows). This depreciation makes exports cheaper and imports more expensive, which can be beneficial for export-driven industries but can also lead to cost-push inflation. Additionally, a weaker Pound increases the cost of imported goods, further contributing to inflationary pressures. By understanding these dynamics, you can better appreciate the real-world applications of your A-level Economics curriculum. Stay informed and make these insights work for you in your studies!

Creating a business is tough, but totally worth it! On July 1st, I officially registered SeanTuition, motivated to share my motto 'learning to learn' with everyone. I kicked things off with a Bluehost template for my website, barely any knowledge of business and accounting, and a big idea. That idea is centered around pushing for more innovative and independent learning in a student's education. I believe that fostering creativity and encouraging students to take charge of their own learning can lead to more meaningful and lasting educational experiences. By integrating new teaching methods, leveraging technology, and providing resources that promote critical thinking and problem-solving, we can empower students to become lifelong learners. This approach not only prepares them for academic success but also equips them with the skills needed to navigate and thrive in an ever-changing world. It's only been a month, but a fantastic team has already come together: Nur Hakeemah Burhanudin, Sarah-Ruth Trup, and Azmarea M. Plus, our awesome graphic designer, Teaghan Rafe. 🎨 We’ve started getting students for SeanTuition's Summer School, and I’ve finally wrapped my head around what HMRC wants from me. Here's to many more milestones and fun times ahead! 🚀 #StartupLife #LearningToLearn #SeanTuition #BusinessJourney #NewBeginnings
