SCVO (Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations)
Non-profit Organizations
The national membership organisation for charities, voluntary groups and social enterprises in Scotland.
About us
SCVO is the national membership organisation for the voluntary sector in Scotland. Our mission is to champion the role of voluntary organisations in building a flourishing society and support them to do work that has a positive impact. We're passionate about what the voluntary sector can achieve. Along with our community of over 3,800 members and supporters, we believe that a thriving voluntary sector should be at the heart of a successful, fair and inclusive Scotland. We tirelessly lobby and campaign to advance the interests of our members and the people and communities that they support, and empower people to make a difference in their communities by providing affordable services and office spaces, and access to quality information and resources. We also encourage digital participation, create networking opportunities, increase access to volunteer and job opportunities, and run hundreds of training courses throughout the year.

Just added: the First Minister, John Swinney MSP, at the Gathering 2025. Here are all the details: - 'The voluntary sector’s role in delivering the First Minister’s priorities' with the First Minister, John Swinney MSP - Tuesday 4th February 2025 - 7:45am arrival for 8:30am start * Places are limited at this much-anticipated event so please book now to avoid disappointment. We've added the link to book in the comments. * You’re invited to hear the First Minister's thoughts on how the voluntary sector will help to achieve his government's priorities. The First Minister has set out four priorities for his government: eradicating child poverty, growing Scotland’s economy, tackling the climate emergency, and improving Scotland’s public services. In this session, SCVO will facilitate discussion between the First Minister and the voluntary organisations on the sector’s key role in achieving these priorities. #SCVOGathering

We're pleased to welcome Ben Supple from The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) and Steven Marwick from Inspiring Scotland to SCVO's board of trustees as newly co-opted board members. Our trustees play a key role in making sure that SCVO stays true to our mission and values, serving the interests of our members and the wider voluntary sector. Congratulations Ben and Steven on your appointments. #CharityGovernance
