🌍 Human Rights Day: A Call to Action Tomorrow is Human Rights Day, an annual reminder of the importance of protecting rights for all. At Scottish Care, we use this occasion to highlight both achievements and systemic challenges in social care. 💡 Examples of progress include: ➡️ Silver Pride Project: Creating inclusive spaces for older LGBT adults living with dementia, championing freedom of expression. ➡️ Ethical Commissioning: Advocating for rights-based social care procurement models to enhance dignity and independence. But challenges remain: 🔴 Failure to bring in ringfenced funding: The 2025/26 Scottish Budget leaves social care services under immense financial strain. 🔴 Human Rights Bill delays: The #BringBackTheBill campaign from No urish Scotland calls on the government to prioritise embedding international human rights into law. 📢 Join Nourish Scotland this Human Rights Day for the #OurRightsOurFuture rally: 🗓️ 10th Dec | 🕙 10AM | 📍 Scottish Parliament 🔗 Read more about our work and this event:https://buff.ly/4f7KZph Together, we can stand for dignity, inclusion, and transformative change! #HumanRightsDay

Scottish Care’s Initial Response to the Scottish Budget The Scottish Budget’s omission of targeted support for social care is deeply concerning. Rising costs, unaddressed National Insurance increases, and a lack of ring-fenced funding put providers, workers, and vulnerable individuals at risk. While health spending headlines dominate, this Budget fails to sustain the social care sector, which is crucial to NHS success. Though the commitment to the Real Living Wage by 2025 is a positive step, it’s not enough to address the challenges facing the sector.
