Cardiology is one of the largest medical specialties in the NHS; more than 6m people are living with cardiovascular disease (CVD) and it is accountable for more than a quarter of all deaths. With such a large patient cohort, we’re pleased to report that our latest Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) compartment of data on the Model Health System is now available to support cardiology teams. More than 70 metrics covering emergency percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) and electrophysiology procedures such as pacemaker insertion and ablations are included in the new compartment, as well as contextual information like numbers of elective admissions under the care of a cardiologist, outpatient attendances and the utilisation rate for patient-initiated follow up (PIFU). Data can be viewed at site, trust, system and network level. To access data for your unit, log in to https://model.nhs.uk/ and navigate to ‘acute hospital services’ > cardiology.  Professor Simon Ray, GIRFT’s clinical lead for cardiology, said: “GIRFT is about supporting colleagues to deliver the best in treatment and care for their patients. This important data, now available on the Model Health System, can help teams to easily see variation and gaps in provision and work out how best to address them, supporting them to deliver improved outcomes for thousands of patients each year.”  Read more on our website: https://bit.ly/44y9sR5 Sarah Clarke British Cardiovascular Society BRITISH CARDIOVASCULAR INTERVENTION SOCIETY
