  • This year saw another significant occasion for the RWG apprentice training programme. The 2024 graduating group were joined by the group from 2020, who, because of various restrictions, could not mark the occasion meaningfully at the time. A celebratory lunch for both groups was attended by Chris McPherson, Operations Director, Lynn Bisset, HR Director and Kenny McKenzie, Business Director. Also in attendance were the respective operations managers, supervisors and the training team. At the start of the apprentice year, RWG host an open evening where families can meet the highly experienced training team as well as management representatives. This year, Mark Forsyth, Managing Director, along with directors and managers from across RWG, welcomed the families of our first year apprentices. RWG is very proud of our history of developing apprentices and our exceptional retention rate. Having now trained 220 in a variety of engineering disciplines across the years, we are delighted to celebrate the successes of our apprentices as they develop through their programme and their career with RWG. Hopefully, some of RWG’s ex-apprentices will read this post and reflect on their RWG apprentice journey. If you were an apprentice, please leave a comment below and share your experience with us. We would love to hear from you. Read more about the apprentice training programme here: https://lnkd.in/gy6gg4M #RWG #ApprenticeTrainingProgramme

  • A team of 8 volunteers from RWG attended Union Point on Wednesday to help AberNecessities charity ‘Believe in Magic’ Appeal. They all had a great day sorting out donations, packing gifts for children (and parents) to receive, knowing that it may be the only gift they receive. AberNecessities is an amazing charity and RWG were so pleased to be able to offer our support to them this year. • RWG (Repair & Overhauls) enhances operations in the Middle East, demonstrating our customer commitment with expansion of our regional presence. The establishment of an in-country facility allows us to integrate our regional team, tooling, and strategic spares into a strategic location within Abu Dhabi. The Middle East operation will provide maintenance and emergency response services to SGT-A20 operators with a view to further enhancing our services to local customers. Kenny McKenzie, RWG Business Director, said “This facility will play a critical role in supporting the region’s growing demand for high quality repair services, ensuring that all new and existing customers can operate with maximum safety, efficiency and reliability which is synonymous with our global operations. By enhancing these local capabilities, it reduces the need for outsourcing maintenance to distance locations, thus fostering regional self-sufficiency while also complementing OEM service infrastructure.” For further information, please contact George Moffat, Regional Sales Manager: gmoffat@rwgroup.com #RWG #GasTurbine #SGTA20 #GlobalReach #Teamwork #Collaboration

  • RWG are thrilled to be part of yet another aeroderivative gas turbine test using methanol fuel. Siemens Energy in partnership with the Net Zero Technology Centre, have successfully completed another aeroderivative gas turbine test using methanol fuel where RWG’s Aberdeen test facility was retrofitted to showcase another pilot test using an SGT-A35. This pilot successfully paves the way for new or existing assets to operate using low carbon fuels without extensive modifications. The use of methanol as an alternative fuel could eventually play a significant part in reducing emissions. Indeed, another great leap towards decarbonising... and an exciting milestone achieved through collaboration and innovation. • RWG’s Advanced Remanufacturing Business delivers comprehensive and innovative repairs of Aerospace, Industrial and Marine gas turbine components. Not only does our in-house engine overhaul and repair programmes benefit from these services, we also support a range of other MRO centers and equipment manufacture operators on both mature service run and new production components. We recently completed a comprehensive overhaul of an SGT-A35 Front Combustion Liner (FCL) for one of our valued customers. The FCL is approximately 40 years old, with many thousands of hours service, and will have been through multiple overhaul cycles. Experiencing extreme running conditions (temperatures of around 1000°C at burner locations and 600°C at the rear section), the general condition of the FCL can deteriorate throughout their service life. As they wear and the material ages, repairs become progressively more challenging. However, our expertise, coupled with extensive repair knowledge and technical capability ensures the FCL can be successfully restored and released into service for many more operational years.
