A heartfelt congratulations to Barbara Gardner, former RSPCA trustee and treasurer, on being appointed an MBE for her exceptional services to animal welfare! ✨ Starting as a volunteer, Barbara served nearly 13 years as treasurer and trustee for the RSPCA Torquay and South East Devon branch. She then went on to work as a trustee of the national RSPCA from 2008-2014 and again from 2018-2021, during which she also took on the role of treasurer. RSPCA Chief Executive Chris Sherwood said: “This is such a wonderful achievement and thoroughly well deserved. Barbara has dedicated many years to animal welfare at a local, national and international level and her work as RSPCA treasurer was instrumental in helping us reform the RSPCA into a modern and forward-facing organisation. We congratulate Barbara on all that she has achieved for animals and the amazing work she continues to do to improve the lives of every kind.”

Our 200th year has been a big one for every kind 🙌 To name but a few developments, the UK Government pledged to phase out animal testing, live exports were ended, and disposable vapes were banned. What's more, we delivered 2 million meals via our Pet Food Banks, rehomed 20,000 animals, and helped educate 700,000 young people about animal welfare online. We’ve hit a major milestone - delivering two million pet food meals to support pet owners struggling with the cost of living! 💙 The Pet Food Bank Partnership was launched in 2020, when we saw owners having to choose between feeding themselves or their pets. Since then, we’ve provided 1.2 million dog meals and 800,000 cat meals to help keep pets in loving homes. With over 250 Pet Food Bank partnerships across the UK and plans for further expansion, we’re dedicated to helping even more pets stay with their families. Boxing Day should be spent celebrating British wildlife and yet it's a time when many worry for the lives of animals caught up in the so-called 'sport' of trail hunting. It was promising to see that the Ministry of Defence didn't grant any trail hunting licences this year, meaning 343,600 hectares of UK land are safe for wildlife. Now the Government needs to take the next step to improve the Hunting Act 2004 and ban trail hunting altogether. Sign the Time For Change Coalition petition and give animals a voice 👉 https://lnkd.in/eNzvbqky Illegal hunting should be reported to the police, who will contact us if they require our assistance.
