RS Philippines volunteers, led by RS Philippines’ General Manager Ronald Rosario, recently collaborated with Seeds of Hope Society Philippines and other dedicated organisations to plant 500 fruit-bearing seedlings in Tanay, Rizal, Philippines. 🌱 This activity is particularly important as the Philippines has lost a significant amount of its forest cover over the years. Statistics from the Philippines Climate Change Commission indicate that the country has lost 1.42 million hectares (or 7.6% decrease) of total tree cover from 2001 to 2022. This highlights the urgent need for reforestation efforts like ours. The RS Philippines team is committed to #DoTheRightThing for sustainability, building a #BetterWorld 🌏 and to #MakeEverydayBetter for the community 💚 .

RS Philippines recently participated in the monthly General Membership Meeting of the Association of First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) Locators, Inc. (AFLI), held in Batangas. Industrial parks in the Philippines play a crucial role in housing many manufacturing and logistics companies, leading to a consistent demand for electronic, electrical, and industrial components. This particular event attracted nearly 100 purchasing and logistics professionals, providing RS a valuable platform for networking and collaboration. The meeting was spearheaded by AFLI’s Programme Lead, Mr. Jimbooh Como, and FPIP’s Procurement Lead, Mr. Arnold Magpantay, RS Philippines took the opportunity to showcase our RS PRO product line, highlighting the quality and variety of our offerings designed to meet the diverse needs of businesses operating within industrial parks so that we help to #MakeEverydayBetter by supporting these industries with reliable products and solutions. #WeAreRS #RSPhilippines #FPIP #AFLI #RSPRO #WeMakeEveryDayBetter #MakingAmazingHappen

RS Singapore hit the high note (quite literally!) yesterday afternoon with our year-end volunteering activities with seniors. Working with the Red Cross and Kampung Senang Charity & Education Foundation, the team visited the Kampung Senang Day Activity Centre to bring some cheer to some 20 seniors living in the vicinity. New friendships were forged, while old ones were renewed, with our team mingling amidst the seniors and engaging them in a session of karaoke. Talents were spotted as the team crooned away in Chinese, Cantonese, Hokkien and English – and busted out the dance moves. The seniors expressed a lot of gratitude for the team’s companionship in sharing teatime snacks and goodie bags of daily necessities. It was our privilege to spend time and learn from the experiences and wisdom of these seniors. The Singapore team not just made melody, but #MadeAmazingHappen for these elderly, #DoingTheRightThing to brighten the day and connect with some of them who otherwise live alone.

RS Thailand celebrated Loy Krathong, the Festival of Lights, on 15 November 2024, with colleagues dressed in traditional attire. Throughout the country, krathongs (handmade “vessels” crafted with flowers and candles) are floated in waterways during the full moon of the 12th lunar month to honour the Goddess of Water. For our RS krathong-making competition, colleagues in Bangkok were organised into 5 groups to create their innovative krathongs. Only natural materials were used, ensuring #WeDoTheRightThing for our planet. Mika Suzuki has spent over 25 years working at RS Asia Pacific. We caught up with her to discuss her memories during that time and her current role as a Senior People Business Partner for Japan and Korea. Q1. Hi Mika, what does a typical day look like for you? Mika: "Every day is varied as a People Business Partner. I spend time talking with local leaders to understand their priorities and concerns, and work on HR initiatives to support business growth. Currently, I am in the office every day as I value meeting people face-to-face. In addition to this I often put on a HR Operation hat and sometimes a Talent Acquisition hat." Q2. What is your favourite thing about working at RS? Mika: "I have experienced what it truly means to be One Team in RS. Since we first launched the business in Japan, and with colleagues in Japan, APAC and Group, we have been working as one team to grow the business, and held on to one common vision. "As part of a team, I have also received lots of encouragement from my boss Laura and other colleagues to challenge myself, and opportunities to develop myself further. Career growth opportunities are another of my favourite things here in RS. I appreciate the great opportunities in developing my career in both the Finance and HR teams here. As a People Business Partner, I would like to help others to achieve the same." Q3. Do you have a favourite work memory from your 25 years with the business so far? Mika: "My best memories are around the people I work with, and there are so many, it is quite difficult to choose. "Last year, all of Japan’s employees gave me a message board for my 25th anniversary in the company, with recognition from each employee. I felt very touched. "I also recall in-person and virtual APAC and Global HR meetings and workshops I attended. Colleagues in various countries inspired me, and we respected and learned from each other as one team demonstrating Diversity and Inclusion." #RSLife #WeAreRS #People #RSJapan #OneTeam
