Beauty retail is big business and a topic close to our hearts with 2 ex beauty buyers in our ranks! It was interesting therefore to visit the Boots UK Make Magic pop up at Battersea Power Station and get to spin the prize wheel with a impressive successful spin rate of 75% Beauty retailers are fighting hard for consumers especially with SEPHORA now growing their presence in the UK. Who do you think is winning the beauty battle?

What better way to spend our lunch hour than chatting to The UK Greeting Card Association members about Retail Negotiation. These Lunch & Learn sessions are a great way to introduce a new topic and chat about it in an informal manner. Our key takeaway - Preparation is key for a successful negotiation. Thanks to Adriana Lovesy for hosting and inviting us to speak. PS don’t forget to send those Christmas cards 🎄#cardmmitment

Read all about it! The State of Sourcing 2025 Report has just been released by the team behind Source Fashion, Source Home & Gift and Source Garden - it makes for a fascinating read. We were lucky enough to get a preview of the findings and add our thoughts to the report but it would be great to know what impression it gives you on the state of sourcing - are the results what you'd expect? https://lnkd.in/eBMkTnju

As the retail landscape continues to evolve, Black Friday has transformed from a single day of intense shopping into a month-long extravaganza. This extended period allows retailers to spread out promotions, manage stock levels more effectively, and cater to the modern consumer's desire for convenience and early deals. Retailers across the UK are embracing this extended format, seeing it as an opportunity to drive sustained engagement and sales throughout November. The gradual buildup to the big day helps to reduce logistical pressures and creates a more enjoyable shopping experience for customers. However, it's interesting to note that some brands are choosing to step back from the Black Friday frenzy. Concerns over unsustainable discounting practices, environmental impact, and the desire to maintain brand value have led these brands to explore alternative strategies. By focusing on quality over quantity and promoting sustainable shopping habits, they aim to foster long-term customer loyalty and brand integrity. Either way, the most critical thing is to stay aligned with your brand values. Whether you are discounting or steering clear, the ‘rules’ never change. Keep your customer and product in mind and make trading decisions driven by data, not emotion or panic. Wishing every brand, retailer, supplier out there a great black friday period. #BlackFriday #RetailTrends #Sustainability #Retail100Consulting #CustomerExperience

As we approach Christmas I have been working on several shows with Luke McLaughlin and the team at Coming up Roses🌹 This one is all about the draw of Christmas Lights on London's Oxford Street to excite families and drive the magic of the season. It airs on Channel 5 at 9.00 pm on Tuesday 26th November. You can just about hear my dulcet Irish tones in this clip - but for those of you who know me - there will be plenty of storytelling 🎄
