This holiday season, don't forget real Christmas trees can be recycled! Most councils in London will either collect your tree as part of your usual bin collection, or set up drop-off points. The trees will either be recycled and shredded into chippings, or composted, for use in local parks and green spaces. Check your local council's website for details on collection services and visit #LondonRecycles website for advice and handy tips on #festive#sustainability https://zurl.co/EjG5 #christmastree #recycling

📺 Did you see us on the telly? 👀 We were thrilled to chat with Sally Williams at ITV News London to support their Christmas waste package. Our head of communications and behaviour change, Ali Moore, spoke to Sally about the huge amount of stuff we chuck away each year, and how more and more Londoners are seeking out more sustainable ways of celebrating to save money and reduce waste. We also introduced Tree Brothers (@treebrothers.ltd - Instagram) from our circular business community ♻️ Their CEO, Hugo Knox, highlighted the number of Christmas trees that binned after Christmas, and how they're helping to put them to good use through reuse and recycling. Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without the mince pies, roast potatoes, Christmas pudding and of course... sprouts! But all that food comes at a cost, and a LOT ends up going to waste. The average UK household spends an extra £100 on food at Christmas, of which at least £16 ends up in the bin! This amounts to a total of £444 million worth of food waste over the festive period. https://zurl.co/MAth1 To help Londoners reduce food waste and save money this festive season, we're sharing our top tips via our #LondonRecycles and #EatLikeaLondoner campaigns. The Government's Circular Economy Taskforce marks a real opportunity to propel progress across the UK, its cities and regions to a zero waste economy. Moving away from our current linear 'take, make, throw' economic model will drive the transition to a low carbon, circular economy – with the added benefits of economic growth and social value. Having developed the first ever city route map to a circular economy from 2015 - 2017, we at ReLondon are pleased that our CEO, Wayne Hubbard FCIWM, is part of the Circular Economy Taskforce – both as an individual expert and as a voice for cities and their role in making circularity happen – and we’re excited to be contributing to the development of the UK's first ever circular economy strategy, which will help position the UK as a global leader in circular design, technology, and industry.
