    When you think of a hospice, what comes to mind? For many, the word alone feels heavy...full of loss, sadness, and grief. But here’s what might surprise you: hospices are some of the most positive places I’ve ever encountered. When I spoke with Nigel Hartley MBE FRSA on my podcast, this was something I couldn’t help but reflect on. Walking through the corridors of the hospices he leads, I’ve seen it for myself: ✨ Staff smiling and laughing together. ✨ A culture of kindness and connection. ✨ A positivity that radiates, even in the hardest of circumstances. It’s not that tough moments don’t exist. I’ve seen those, too. When my sister was dying, I saw tears, tension, and heartbreak. But what stood out...what stayed with me...was the resilience and compassion of the people working there. In our conversation, I asked Nigel a question that had been on my mind: “How do you foster a mindset of positivity in a hospice, where people come to die?” His answer was a masterclass in leadership. It’s about more than policies or processes...it’s about creating a culture where every individual feels supported, valued, and connected to a shared purpose. Because positivity doesn’t just happen...it’s cultivated. This conversation left me inspired and reminded me of the power of leadership to shape an environment, even in the most challenging of spaces. 💬 What do you think?
