  • Happy International Men's Day from the team here at RecOps. This year's theme 'Positive Male Role Models’, highlights the importance of creating spaces where men can have open and honest conversations about their mental health. These conversations can be particularly challenging in industries like recruitment, where a competitive mindset is often essential for success. Men may hesitate to speak about their mental health or ask for help as they don't want to be perceived as 'weak'. Days like today remind us to take a step back, make sure we're looking after ourselves, and encourage the men around us to do the same. Here at RecOps, we ensure year-round, that everyone gets out to the gym during lunch, encourage healthy eating, and organise alcohol-free socials. How are you taking part in this year’s Men's Mental Health Awareness Month?

When discussing cloud providers, the conversation often centres on the two biggest players: AWS and Azure. GCP, often seen as a niche option, tends to fly under the radar. But as the year draws to a close, GCP’s accelerating revenue growth may show that things might be starting to change. In Q3 alone, Google invested £10.3 billion into expanding its data centre infrastructure. This investment, alongside growing demand for their Vertex AI services, has fuelled their growth. The current market share looks like this: AWS: 32% Azure: 23% GCP: 12% With these numbers in mind, do you think GCP can become a serious contender alongside AWS and Azure? Or will it always remain the underdog?

✨ What an incredible evening at the RecOps Symposium: TRS 004 – New People, New Systems... Same Problems? ✨ Thank you to everyone who joined us at Blackhouse for a night of insightful discussions, great company, and delicious food! 🎉 Our speaker, Wil Jones, Technical Director at Propel Tech, explored the complexities of bringing new people into software development teams and the challenges of inheriting systems without documentation. • 🎃Following on from Halloween, another topic that often gives people the willies is changing jobs in the festive season. 🎄Many candidates find that moving roles at the end of the year can feel more stressful, but here are a few reasons why finding a new role in November/December might not be such a bad idea: ✅Fresh Start for the New Year: Starting a new job just before the new year can set a positive tone for your career, allowing you to hit the ground running with new goals ✅Less competition: With many candidates all waiting for the New Year, starting a new position in Nov/Dec can get you ahead of the candidate influx in Jan/Feb ✅Establishing Connections Early: You can start building relationships with your new colleagues before the rush of the new year & the festive atmosphere can make transitioning into a new workplace feel more welcoming Comment below what your experience has been moving jobs at this time of year, or any other positives/negatives about finding a new role in the festive season!
