As part of our work on the Irwell River Park Strategy for Salford City Council, a transformational project which will set the tone for the next chapter of this 5 mile stretch of land, the re-form team in #Manchester have been taking part in a series of social value activities in the local community including: 🌳 A day volunteering at New Bailey square, at the heart of ECF’s award-winning New Bailey neighbourhood, replanting and maintaining the existing beds. 🏫 Hosting creative workshops with pupils age between 7 – 11 years old at St Philip’s CE Primary School, which sits within the Irwell River Park study area. This was an opportunity to introduce the project, its aims and explore new ideas the children had for play and active spaces along the route. There were some adventurous and fantastic ideas! 💡 Next up will be workshops with college students at UTC @MediaCity early in 2025. This will help inform the next phase of design alongside wider feedback gathered from the recent public consultation programme. Our ambition is to create a genuine linear park from Salford Quays through the city centre to Peel Park, connecting Salford’s inner-city communities and acting as a catalyst for wider regeneration in the area. We are also identifying place-making themes and projects associated with green infrastructure, arts and culture, neighbourhood services, residential and commercial uses and activities. We’ll be sharing more insight into our vision soon… Project team: Salford City Council ECF #IrwellRiverPark #Salford #Landscapearchitecture #landscapearchitect #socialvalue #CSR #Volunteering #communityengagement #placemaking #greeninfrastructure

About us
At re-form landscape architecture we design enduring places; places that are special, well-loved and well used. We do this by being creative, engaging and thoughtful. sense of belonging - The name re-form comes from a desire to work with the positive DNA of a place – social activity, cultural heritage, physical form and natural processes - and harness, or re-mould this DNA as a force for positive change. people make places - The best places attract people because there is a good reason to go there. They encourage activity, stimulate our senses and lift the spirits. This is why we strive to create vibrant spaces, by understanding a community’s values, needs and aspirations. enduring places - Our approach to sustainable design is about creating enduring environments - places that stand the test of time. A sustainable environment defines a place’s identity, supports the local economy, inspires communities and looks and feels as good as it did when it was built. treading carefully - Everything we do has an impact on the environment. We make sure that each of our projects is informed by the need to conserve resources, preserve and enhance natural systems and minimise carbon emissions.

We recently marked our one-year anniversary since re-form became an employee-owned business by getting our teams from #Leeds, #Manchester and #Edinburgh together for our first EOT (Employee Ownership Trust) workshop. Our decision to become an #EOT was a natural evolution of our people-focused workplace culture and to secure a sustainable future for re-form. We took part in a series of activities aimed at developing the company’s ‘employee voice’, and together, agreed actions and strategies to further embed employee ownership at every level. Thank you to the Mustard Tree in Ancoats for providing a great space for our meet-up – this charity does so much to help improve economic wellbeing and find settled homes for local people who are homeless – and it’s a cause we’re proud to support. Planning has been submitted for final residential scheme in ECF's New Bailey neighbourhood in Salford. A new tower block will feature over 150 ‘affordable’ homes, located within the £1bn Salford Central New Bailey regeneration zone. Our designs for the scheme include a new public space located at the foot of the proposed tower, bridging the gap between Trinity Way and Stanley Street, a key gateway in the New Bailey estate and an important strategic link in the wider Irwell River Park proposals. Our proposals include a series of seating spaces defined by significant new tree and shrub planting, providing safe and calm external spaces within a busy urban environment. Nature based drainage is incorporated into the space as is cycle parking to encourage active travel throughout the wider area. The space is designed as a counter part to New Bailey Square, located centrally with the New Bailey Estate, designed by re-form and completed in late 2022. https://lnkd.in/eA8fNkJb Project team: ECF Hawkins\Brown Buro Four Deloitte Cundall Walker Sime Design Fire Consultants Project Four Safety Solutions Ltd. Planning consent has been given for our design for a new sustainable and creative Salford neighbourhood. The project will see ECF – a joint venture made up of Legal & General, Muse and Homes England –transform the partly-disused light industrial Regent Trading Estate on Oldfield Road into Oldfield Basin. The new community will be formed around 63 one and two bedroom apartments and 27 town houses designed to Passivhaus standards and attractive new public spaces. Bringing back into productive use a brownfield site, the scheme will provide 90 affordable and low carbon homes, creating a vibrant neighbourhood alongside the Islington Mill Arts Club , one of the region's most important bases for artists and independent creative businesses. ✨ Sparkle Street residential scheme in #Manchester has been given the green light at planning. The scheme continues re-form’s work in and around the Piccadilly East regeneration area of the city. Significant growth in residential developments here have created a greater need for high quality supporting public realm and outdoor amenity space. With this in mind, re-form has designed a series of roof terrace spaces and streetscape improvements. The site’s heritage as a former timber yard is referenced through large timber seating decks and detailing. The communal spaces have been conceived at a range of scales, driven through analysis of proxemics (the study of spatial separation of people in various social situations). These studies have informed the design of social spaces for all users, whether it be individuals to escape and read, for couples to relax and talk or for groups to meet and socialise. The planting design and species selection supports these studies with careful consideration of both sheltered and more open spaces. 📢 re-form will be working as part of a consortium led by Jacobs and Mott MacDonald which has been appointed as Design Development Partner by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority for the next phase of the transformative West Yorkshire Mass Transit Programme. The consortium will support the Combined Authority in developing the next phase of the programme into an advanced, high-capacity public transport system, featuring two new light rail lines integrated with cycling, walking and rail to connect communities across the region. It will also strengthen a sustainable and inclusive economy, as well as combat climate change and improve people's health and wellbeing. Having previously supported the project through the process of defining the 'Approach to Placemaking', we’re excited to continue to be part of this pioneering scheme - working together to bring WYCA’s mass transit vision to life. It is anticipated that construction could begin in 2028 for operation by the early 2030s. 📸 West Yorkshire Combined Authority #masstransitwestyorkshireprogramme #masstransit #WYCA #landscapearchitecture #landscapearchitect #sustainabletravel #greentravel #Yorkshire #publictransport Andrew Price

Planning has been approved for ECF’s ‘Oldfield Basin’ - a new green and affordable neighbourhood in Salford. The scheme will transform the former Regent Trading Estate into a mixed used residential community with Islington Mill Arts Club (IMAC) - one of Greater Manchester’s most important bases for artists and creatives – at its heart. ECF, a joint venture between Legal & General, Muse and Homes England, will deliver 90 new energy efficient apartments and family homes which will benefit from high quality public spaces, designed by re-form, linking to the surrounding neighbourhoods of Middlewood Locks and the Crescent. Our design re-uses much of the existing urban fabric, with the former delivery yards turned into multi-functional events spaces. The site’s heritage helped inform new community gardens which are positioned over the historic canal basin. Interpretative elements reference the old coal barges and the alignment of the basin, communicating the identity of this historically significant site. The project continues our collaborative partnership with ECF with previous schemes including Salford’s New Bailey Square, featuring the award-winning Eden Building; Peru Street affordable apartment building, as well as current schemes including the transformative Bradford City Village regeneration project. Fantastic to see the award-winning Tileyard North in #Wakefield nearing completion- with the sixth building now finished and just one remaining to construct at this transformational creative campus - the largest of its kind outside London. The new buildings are anchored around a series of revitalised public spaces - designed by re-form. We've been working alongside Hawkins\Brown since 2017, developing the landscape proposals for this unique site. Our design links to the adjacent The Hepworth Wakefield Gallery and Garden, creating a new central courtyard for café spill out and events, and enabling connections down to the riverside via a central spine with new areas of tree and shrub planting. Well done everyone involved 👏

A huge congratulations to Hannah Thompson, a brilliantly talented and valued member of the re-form team who has been promoted to Associate Director. Hannah said: “After 11 years with re-form, I am thrilled to accept my new position as Associate Director. Thank you to Andrew Price and Guy Denton for their vote of confidence, and for making re-form a great place to work. I look forward to continuing their work across our studios in Leeds, Manchester and Edinburgh, working with our incredibly passionate team to create enduring, engaging places which benefit communities.“ Hannah is currently working on a number of transformational projects across the North, including a placemaking strategy for Bradford City Village – which will create a new neighbourhood in the city centre woven together by attractive, green public spaces and active travel routes, and Our Cultural Heart in Huddersfield – a major urban park at the centre of this new cultural destination. Hannah also recently led on landscape proposals for the Rob Burrow Centre for MND in #Leeds, working closely with specialist clinical teams and MND patients to create designs for the gardens and public spaces at the new facility which aims to be a flagship centre for holistic care provision in the north. Well done Hannah and here’s to your next chapter at re-form! 👏
