Jim Coleman and his family would like to thank Bob McBey for raising funds to have an electric wheelchair delivered. Bob took the initiative to raise the cash and asked the Association to help publicize his request. He raised well over £5k to be used to help Jim in his recovery. Jim and his family asked us to post this pic of him in his chair and to say a big thank you to Bob, the Association and to all those who donated to help him achieve some independence.

About us
Welcome to the RAF SCdo & TSW Association Since the late 1980s the RAF Servicing Commando Association has been proud to be associated with their modern day successors – Tactical Supply Wing (TSW). Over the years the Wing, still based at MoD Stafford (formerly RAF Stafford), has become the spiritual home of the Servicing Commandos who have been pleased to see and enjoy the camaraderie of today’s Royal Air Force. In 2006 TSW celebrated its 35th Anniversary; it was clear from the very successful Open Day and Anniversary Weekend, that the time was right to (at last!) form a Wing Association. Co-incidentally, the Servicing Commando Association felt that they wished to hand over their “baton” to the Wing as the inevitability of time began to manifest itself. From these joint interests and common values the new Association was formed.

As you may be aware, Jim Coleman suffered a devastating stroke 6 months ago which has caused many complications. Jim has regained his speech and cognitive abilities, but is currently bed bound due to waiting times for accessibility help. Jim cannot use a standard manual wheelchair as he is unable to use his left arm to propel the chair. Bob McBey has started a JustGiving page to try and raise funds to help Jim with his mobility and get him out of his bedroom and live as normal a life as is possible at the moment. Jim is a founder member of Tactical Supply Wing and a very strong supporter of the Wing and the RAFSC & TSW Association. We are asking if you could help Jim by following the link below and making a donation to the appeal to assist him. The costs of care are high and any help would be greatly appreciated. The link is below, and a couple of clicks will help Jim be scooting around his house quite quickly. https://lnkd.in/e6jdEFBN

Christmas Message from our Chairman As the Festive Season is upon us, we reflect back on 2024 and see that as an Association, we have moved forward toward new beginnings. A new look Committee is now bedding in, and 2025 is looking extremely exciting, with 2 major events taking place for us to gather and commemorate both the Anniversaries of the end of World War 2 in Europe and the formation of TSW. It’s also a poignant time of year for reflection and, in particular, to remember those friends and comrades who have sadly passed away this year. I’m sure we will all take the opportunity to reflect on their Service and memory. On behalf of the Association, I wish you all, whether veteran, currently serving at home or overseas, your family and friends, a safe and happy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous 2025 !! Andy Waters, MBE
