One day making video will not make me feel so criiiiiiinge 🤣 In the meantime I’ll trust that I’ll get better… If you are interested in attending one of my creative workshops or hosting one please don’t hesitate to contact me. I’m looking forward to running a jewellery making one on Monday for a team of five for Bolton based company, as something different that they can enjoy before they finish for Christmas. I’m also still open for any last minute commissions and gift vouchers 😃🌲

About us
Creativity, commissions and community. I created Quiet Thunder back in 2018 as an outlet for my creativity and a celebration of all that is beautiful in the World. It focuses on the beauty of the natural world, words which resonate and inspire, celestial wonders, the Heavens and anything which gets the grey matter moving, including the odd bit of astro physics! I was one of four North West Artists to participate in an International Artists Exchange to America, working with artists and educators in Early Years Settings. My degree is in fine art embroidered textiles but in 2009 I attended a short course in silversmithing and made a silver ring upon which I stamped the names of my children. I love making personalised pieces of jewellery and I’m intrigued by the stories my customers share. Quiet Thunder encompasess a range of things that I design and make including: •original art work •paintings •drawings •fine art prints •personalised jewellery •mixed media pieces. The humble tee shirt is also a staple of the range, always made from organic cotton and either hand stitched, hand painted or printed. The first tee shirt that I designed was the Mind Over Matter one - which I created as a gentle reminder to myself and nudge about trying to see the positives in life. Why should you be proud to buy and wear organic cotton? Environmentally friendly – production uses less energy, releases fewer greenhouse gases and uses less water Premium quality – strong and robust, hypoallergenic and better for the skin Fair working conditions – workers who create GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified cotton products are paid a fair living wage In a world of fast fashion we need to consider the journey of the clothing we wear. Let’s hope there is more understanding of the consequences of mass-produced fabrics and the pride we can all enjoy in choosing to wear organic cotton. Hand Stamped Jewellery Workshops at Spring Cottage, Rivington. I’m running just two of these before Christmas. One on Tuesday 3rd December and one on the 18th December, both from 6.30-8.00pm with a glass of mulled wine or a tea. You will be shown how to make a hand stamped piece of jewellery in aluminium, copper or brass, which you can hammer and stamp with dates, co-ordinates of special place, or maybe words to inspire, uplift or soothe. A beautiful gift for a loved one, or something to treasure just for you. Spring Cottage is located in the picturesque village of Rivington, near Bolton and is a truly magical space which I’m delighted is hosting my workshops. As I was going up the drive there for a meeting last week two little deer crossed my path, and it was a really magic moment. There are just nine spaces available on each date. I’m also running two Sunday dates for creating Vision Boards, 15th December and 5th January 6.00-8.00pm Please visit my website for further details or please message me. On 21st January I will also be hosting my first ever Creative Retreat Day here, from 10.00-4.00pm which will include yoga by the amazing @theloft_wellbeing, meditation by @purelywellbeing, creative time led by yours truly and a grazing board for lunch 🥗 Please get in touch for more information. This is also limited to nine people and two of those places have already gone 💫 #ceativeworkshop #rivington #springcottage #handstampedjewellery #bespokegifts #retreatyourself

I’ve recently inherited a lot of poetry books and I’m absolutely drawn to some of them. Yesterday morning the first line of this popped into my head and I thought I’d share it. I’m running a workshop today in a new venue, The Anderton Centre in Chorley, and it will be lovely to be surrounded by the water and nature. I love being outside amongst the trees or by the water. It calms me. My mind is overflowing with ideas for Quiet Thunder and it’s a bit chaotic in there 🙈 Looking at the leaves falling and my dogs paddling in the water makes me slow down. ‘Leisure’ William Henry Davies ((1871-1940) “What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. No time to stand beneath the boughs And stare as long as sheep or cows. No time to see, when woods we pass, Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass. No time to see, in broad daylight, Streams full of stars, like skies at night. No time to turn at Beauty’s glance, And watch her feet, how they can dance. No time to wait till her mouth can Enrich that smile her eyes began. A poor life this if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare.”

Thursday thoughts 💭 1. Have a half decent shot of your face for the start of your video 🙈👀 (I will get to grips with doing ‘lives’ I’m sure). 2. Herons are amazing. I’ve seen one today while I was out collecting leaves and flowers for a project and it was so, so still I wondered if it was real. 3. Work comes from the strangest of places: a chance encounter and chat with a stranger recently led to a large order of artwork. 4. I love the variety of my job. Recent makes have been artwork for an Air B&B, colour recommendations for an interior, a framed collage created as retirement present, and of course my workshops. Next week I start a project working for a local CIC and running workshops for adults on watercolour and paper making. If you would be interested in any artwork or workshops for you or your staff, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Beauty in simplicity 🤍 Thanks so much for following Quiet Thunder. August has been a great month business wise, my best yet in fact, but under the sadness of arranging my mum’s funeral and all the angst that comes when someone you love passes away. I’ve been running on autopilot I guess but boy have I been busy. August saw me run my first creative workshop at a Yoga retreat, create new artwork, run jewellery workshops, embroider organic tee shirts for customers and create special jewellery for them. I hand painted a mural and the logos in the interior of an industrial unit for a local company and launched my first candle made from essential oils. I also ran a 1:2:1 workshop. September sees me completing a commission for a company which will be given as a gift to one of the Directors when he leaves, and more workshops. I first saw this bowl about a month ago and waited and waited and then bought it last week 😍 I thought it might be lovely to use as a backdrop for some jewellery photos. It reminds me of the corals I collected last year in Mauritius. You weren’t allowed to bring them home so I drew them and photographed them. Anyway…if you are interested in a creative workshop for your team or would like some bespoke artwork creating, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Morning 🙋🏻♀️ Firstly, thank you so much for following this page and my journey. It’s hugely appreciated. I thought in for a penny in for a pound and decided I’d share a video as my first post. I’ve just been to see the space for an event I’m running for a staff wellbeing day (there’s about forty of them 🙈😆), and I’m a bit giddy. I’m not really one for doing videos in my car (or for that matter videos of me at all), but I thought why not. I’ve had a few new followers recently and so I thought you might like to hear my dulcet Northern tones 🤣 I’m off to pick some flowers up from a local florist for my watercolour workshop tomorrow, and to try and find a big canvas which I can paint over, from a charity shop. Sending love and hope you have an ace weekend - even if there’s nothing very Summery about this Summer 👀 (P.S. Mercury Cazimi is way better explained by Kirsty Gallagher 😆)
