Enabling clean flight
About us
Qdot Technology Ltd. is an Oxford University spin-out company whose mission is to enable clean flight by leveraging thermal management expertise to create hybrid propulsions systems. The founding team’s first thermal management innovation was a heatsink design for a nuclear fusion power plant divertor target – a component that must endure 100,000 times the power of the sun. Building on this background and using the expertise of the team, Qdot has developed new IP in thermal managements systems for high power density batteries as well as compact heat exchangers using advanced design and manufacturing methods. Currently, Qdot is working on an integrated propulsion system using these technologies that will make possible electric and hybrid VTOL aircraft.

Announcing a new hydrogen-electric #flight propulsion partnership in the UK! We have been working closely with Qdot Technology, a UK-based spin-off from the University of Oxford - on a special 50kW hybrid hydrogen-battery electric solution capable of boosting the flight range of large unmanned cargo aircraft. H3 Dynamics sees the aviation sector as being composed of several sub-segments, these range from small unmanned systems to large CS25 aircraft, and includes ground operations as well as airports. Some of these segments are emerging faster than others and we are enabling the broader ecosystem's progress across several countries simultaneously - stay tuned for more news! It was a pleasure working with the Axalp Technologies team to help deliver on our vision of enabling clean flight!
Axalp Technologies is happy to show some of the work we are doing together with one of our partners, Qdot Technology! The team at Qdot is developing long-range emission-free UAVs, starting with the strong foundation of a unique, emission-free hybrid propulsion system. A patented battery thermal management system backed up by a hydrogen fuel cell will allow Qdot to unlock efficiencies that have eluded other systems. Axalp Technologies is proud to assist Qdot with the design and fabrication of a custom variable-pitch propeller system that works synergistically with the other components to yield impressive system-level performance. Qdot is actively testing their system with the Axalp Technologies propeller to optimize all parts of the design. See you on the flightline!
