🏆 Congratulations to Haniyeh M Karbasi, the winner of the Property Research Trust's inaugural Sarah Sayce Award for Sustainability Research!🏆 🏡 Dr. Mohammadpourkarbasi, of the School of Architecture at the University of Liverpool, won over the judging panel with a deep dive into “Decarbonising the UK’s Hard-to-Treat Homes: A Comparative Life Cycle Carbon Analysis of Retrofit Strategies." ♻️ Established by Property Research Trust, Aubrey Barker Fund, RICS and the Council of the Heads of the Built Environment (CHOBE), the award was created to recognise #research which enables or furthers the practical adoption and application of #sustainable solutions in the #property industry. 🤝 We are very pleased that Sarah’s husband, David Sayce, was able to present the winners with their award at last weeks’ RICS Accredited Providers Conference. 💬 Alan Dalgleish, Executive Director at Property Research Trust said: “This report is an excellent piece of work which exemplifies the spirit of the award – it gets to the heart of an extremely important issue, chiefly, evaluating the carbon footprint of different retrofit methods for older UK homes that are difficult to upgrade for energy efficiency. It provides insight on the life cycle carbon impacts of retrofitting versus rebuilding, guiding policies and practices that support the UK's 2050 net-zero emissions target.” 💬 Haniyeh M Karbasi said: “The research highlights the ground breaking impact of academic-industry #collaboration in tackling critical design and policy challenges to achieve #netzero targets in the building sector. I am incredibly grateful to Ecospheric Ltd. for sharing their invaluable project data and to Ben Riddle for his continued support in completing this research. It is a profound honour to receive an award named after Sarah Sayce, an exceptional leader whose outstanding contributions have driven meaningful change in both academia and industry.” 📚 The report will soon be available to view on our website: https://lnkd.in/e9_J6Y7C #property #realestate #research

🏙 How to you move a capital city? ⛈ It is difficult to think of a more serious consequence of the #climatecrisis than a nation deciding to relocate its capital, but that is exactly what is happening in #Indonesia. 📚 The Property Research Trust is pleased to publish its latest report "Optimising government assets in #Jakarta, Indonesia, post relocation of the capital #city." 🌍 The move to relocate the capital from Jakarta to #Nusantara is complex. But what of the buildings left behind in Jakarta after the relocation? 🏛 This important study develops a #sustainable and practical plan for the reuse of existing underused #buildings, using Indonesia’s capital city relocation as a case study. 1️⃣ The report investigates and develops a deeper understanding of the #social, #economic, and #environmental factors involved in the relocation of #government building users in Jakarta, and the impacts on remaining stakeholders and built assets. 2️⃣ And develops an asset lifecycle management framework that considers the concepts of sustainable building and #climatechange adaptation, to optimise the utilisation of the vacant and underused buildings due to the relocation of Jakarta. 🔎 Read the report to find out more here: https://lnkd.in/eeHHbjPK 🙏 With special thanks to the authors of this project: Connie Susilawati, Bernadetta Devi, Sara J Wilkinson, Ashantha Goonetilleke, Dr Jose Arif Lukito and Dr Darmawan Atmoko #research #report #realestateresearch #property
