About us
Pixelhop is a digital agency specialising in apps, web apps, prototypes and MVPs. We work with clients from idea to launch to realise their digital ambitions. Early in 2019, Gem decided it was time to take everything she'd learnt in the digital world and start carving her own path. Just like that one rainy evening in February, Pixelhop was born! The dream had always been for Zef to join once Pixelhop had found its feet a little. Towards the end of 2020, we were ready, and Zef took the plunge and joined Gem full time. Pixelhop doubled in size to 2! 🐰 We like to describe ourselves as creative full-stack developers. We've both have technical backgrounds but do much more than just churning out code. We love getting involved from idea to implementation, offering creative technical insight throughout the process. We try to be chilled, relaxed, friendly people, even when shit hits the fan 🤣. On top of the technical bits, we work with UX and UI designers that we currently collaborate with on a per-project basis. They aren't full-time employees of ours yet but are trusted colleagues we have worked with for years. 🧑🎨 Before working at Pixelhop- Gem and Zef worked on and built all kinds of websites and apps for varied markets. Whether it was large installations at companies such as Vodafone, an app to track pirates, websites for high profile celebrities such as Pink Floyd and other stars at Universal records, or websites for insurance companies such as esure or Fidelity. If you would like to get in touch then what you waiting for. Tap us up on Twitter or send us an email.

AI is still so slept on by those outside the tech sphere! We've been building Chat Thing for a year now and have helped businesses big and small integrate AI into their day-to-day operations. However, walking around town, we were struck by the huge number of traditional businesses that have yet to leverage AI in a positive way. Think your local bakery, coffee shop, or your aunt who sells crochet on Etsy! When we have chatted to owners of businesses like these, they have generally avoided AI because they're scared it will take their jobs, they are intimidated, they don't know how to select good tasks for AI to help with, or they just don't think AI is applicable to their "type" of business. Sometimes, they have too ambitious tasks in mind and give up after getting poor results or struggling with how to prompt ChatGPT. This is such a missed opportunity because, with a bit of guidance, every business can integrate AI to improve efficiency, explore ideas, fill skill gaps, enhance the quality of output and more. It can have a disproportionately significant impact for small businesses. To demonstrate this, we've had some fun inventing a case study for a business you wouldn't typically expect to use AI. Meet Angela, the proud owner of Cake My Day, a specialist cupcake store in Newquay. Angela makes insane cupcakes, but her real passion is surfing, and by integrating AI into her business, she's finding more time for it. Read the full post (link in the comments) to see 10 ways Angela is integrating AI into her small cupcake business.

At Pixelhop we've decided to change the way we work. We want to give clients more for their money and organise our time better in the process. So we've started working in 6 week cycles. Clients get a dedicated product team to take ideas to launch in just 6 weeks. This includes, design, development and project management too. One of the biggest things we’ve noticed is the speed and quality on delivery. This is helped by the fact we’ve finally honed down our tech stack making us incredibly productive. This has proven successful for multiple clients of ours, and we're excited to officially launch this new way of work. To celebrate we are hitting off our next lot of cycles with a massive 40% discount off of your first 2 cycles! That is almost buy one get one free!! Is there a project that you’ve been thinking about starting? Do you want to spruce up your online presence? Create that app that you’ve always wanted to do? Nows the time! Simply send us a message and we can get going today! Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/e9qwAMyS

Here’s how we try and approach the launch of big changes or features at Chat Thing. This is exactly what we did with the launch of the new onboarding bot wizard. 🔍 Slow Release Strategy: Before rolling it out fully, we analyse how the initial 25% of users are finding it, then gradually increasing the adoption rate. 💡 Insights with Posthog: Using Posthog analytics, we evaluate the new user onboarding to see if the new design meets our expectations. This helps us identify any improvements or sticking points that need addressing. 🔄 Learning from User Feedback: Initially, we encountered challenges with users getting stuck in the new bot wizard. Interestingly, when comparing with the previous implementation, we discovered the same problem at a different point in the journey. 🔧 Continual Improvement: This gives us the chance make further UX changes to enhance clarity and guide users through the process more effectively, before rolling out to more users. 🗣️ We Want Your Feedback!: Have you tried the new bot wizard? Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below. Your input is invaluable as we continue to enhance Chat Thing!

Some more user experience updates that we've recently launched here... We’ve created a new bot wizard to help people onboard to Chat Thing easily. The bot wizard helps you add a new bot, add data source and synchronise it for the first time. Hopefully this is helpful to get users up and running a bit easier than it was before. 🤩 😃

Updated design on the data source settings on Chat Thing, what we saying?! This is the recent redesign of data source settings. This should make it way nicer to manage your data sources, especially if you have a lot of content in them. The search is handy for web data sources where you have added a lot of URLs and what to search for a specific page.

Distance won't stop us! 💥 We've just locked in our summer party!! 🥂 We're taking a few days off project and client work and going to be hitting up the Halfstack fest in Newquay for some JavaScript action, surfing, beach BBQs, and lots of laughs. While we champion remote work, nothing beats face-to-face connections. Can't wait for the summer bash! 🔥🏄♀️🌊🥳
