It's been a busy year for us so far at PINK! Over the past 12 months, we've turned a disused office space into a thriving creative hub. From completing large-scale renovations, securing another floor (with a potential third to follow!), to achieving a full premises licence and a stable financial model, the journey has been incredible. As we know, Manchester’s once-thriving artist-led scene has faced significant adversity in recent years. Rising property development, inflated building and rental costs, and dwindling funding opportunities have collectively eroded the foundation of this vital cultural ecosystem. As spaces for artists to create and exhibit have become increasingly scarce, the resilience of Manchester's creative community has been put to the test. PINK has acted in direct response to these challenges. For the last 6 months, we have been opening our doors to the different people and projects that make up our creative community; testing an open-source space hire model that can become part of PINK’s attempt at self-sustaining. This has all been part of a wider fundraising and development strategy that has been fermenting in the background. And by that, we mean that we have been RELENTLESSLY applying for funding from every corner of the region, UK, and beyond. Turning over every possible financial stone to raise the level of funding needed to match our ambitions. This hard work is starting to pay off. We are delighted to have received news of support for 2025 from the Haworth Trust and the Henry Moore Foundation, supporting the development and delivery of 4 solo presentations by local and national artists - one being our very own, Pippa Eason! These grants are a crucial part of our ambitious plan for 2025-2027 and will enable us to produce an innovative 2-year programme driven by the question: What could an artist-led future look like? Anchored in themes of support, growth, creative development, empowerment, and resilience, PINK will empower artists with the space and resources to innovate, think critically, and envision a bold artistic future. The next few months look like MORE application and results deadlines… but we're ready for it!
The space at PINK has seen quite the tranformation since last year! And I’m very excited to produce a solo body of work kindly supported by Haworth Trust. Another huge thank you to Katy for her ongoing support.

Delighted to be hosting New Arrangements, a collaborative project by artists Jenny Baines & Anna Macdonald. The project kickstarted this week with an expanded film event hosted by Jenny Baines, initiating the start of a a series of performative events that will punctuate the project. On Friday 8th March (6-9pm) we will be launching New Arrangements as an exhibition, presenting an installation of works that have evolved from the artists shared time in our gallery space. Over the last month we’ve been developing ‘New Arrangements’, a collaborative project between Jenny Baines & Anna Macdonald. This week, we kickstarted a series of events that will punctuate the project at different stages - beginning with ‘Method Over Matter’, an expanded film performance by artist Jenny Baines, where she presented, for the first time, a series of 16mm performances for camera. The films were projected onto free-standing steel structures, elevating them into three-dimensional space as sculptural performative works. The free-standing steel frames that Baines constructed were specifically designed to relate to the body. These screens were arranged in various configurations and functioned much like parts of a stage set, turning the gallery into the stage and its occupants into both performers and audience members. Over the coming week, the artists will be working collectively to evolve a new exhibition, bringing their individual approaches together, seeing where they collide and diverge, and thinking about how others will interact with the materials. By moving between each other's artistic practices, the exhibition will explore the intersections of sculptural form, film, and dance making, and the interweaving layers of relation and creation generated through acts of doing, arranging, and rearranging. The exhibition will launch on Friday 8th March from 6-9pm, and will run from 9th March until 24th March (open Sat-Sun 12-5pm or by appointment as required). For more information, head to the Facebook event page via the link below: https://fb.me/e/4kKpyaoh4 A free and accessible public programme of discursive events will punctuate the exhibition: 14th March: New Arrangements Live: Performances by Jenny Baines & Anna Macdonald 22nd March: Consolations: A solo sharing of work by Anna Macdonald You can find out more about these events via our Instagram: https://lnkd.in/er2hPte5 New Arrangements is supported by Arts Council England. #stockport #events #exhibition #launch #newarrangements #performance #screendance #film #collaboration #art #contemporaryart

NEW YEAR, NEW EDITION We are DELIGHTED to share with you an exclusive enamel pin badge designed by artist @lfallon that is now available as part of our ongoing Crowdfunder campaign! LIAM FALLON ‘Untitled’ - 2023 Enamel pin badge £15 (inc P&P) *Edition of 250 Initially inspired by Jean Genet’s ‘Un Chant D’amour’, the brick wall has become a recognisable trope and motif of Liam’s Practice, with this architectural facade acting as a separation between private and public but also acting as the setting for things to unfold. At a first glance, this seems reminiscent of things encountered before but there is a false facade at play and quickly, as the reality begins to unfold and these things begin to theatrically perform. You can find the link to our Crowdfunder below, but if you have any questions about this, or any of the other available works, please feel free to get in touch via pinkmanchester@gmail.com https://lnkd.in/evNuxQed So, what are you waiting for? Go get yours! #fundraiser #limitededition #gallery #contemporaryart #liamfallon #art #supportus #crowdfunder #stockport #pinbadge #artedition
