FIREFLY® Barriers create compartments protecting Kent care home. The four-month contract at Davie Court, a three-storey property built in the seventies with places for 38 one-bedroom flats, is being carried out by Bracknell based PiLON Ltd: an award-winning specialist contractor which has been active in the social house sector since 2004. To date, 10 of its operatives have undergone training in the installation of the FIREFLY® systems at the manufacturer’s purpose-built facility in Oldham, as it has grown to serve more clients in the sector. What an inspiring afternoon we had at Riverside’s working lunch and fundraiser! It's an absolute privilege to join forces and support incredible causes like Job Starter Packs, which make a real difference in people’s lives. These packs provide essential items like smartphones, data bundles, work clothes, PPE or even transport to help individuals take that crucial first step into employment. I'm sure you'll agree, these aren’t just items - they’re lifelines that offer hope, independence and a fresh start. We were especially impressed with the Creative Space Art Exhibition, where artwork created by customers themselves was on display! Through this initiative, they’re given the opportunity to showcase and sell their work, providing them with a vital source of income and a big confidence boost. Hearing the moving stories of those who, with Riverside’s support, have turned their lives around was both humbling and motivating. Quite the reminder of the power of compassion and the impact we can all have when we come together. To all our partners at Riverside, thank you for letting us be part of this wonderful journey. We’re proud to share a heart warming success story from our partnership with PA Housing that highlights the positive impact we can create together. Jeanette, one of the Leicester residents included in our K&B programme, faced challenges after illness left her reliant on a wheelchair, confining her to two downstairs rooms and cutting her off from her overgrown garden. This space, once full of potential, had become a barrier to hosting her beloved grandchildren.   Project Surveyor Stephen Hanlon contacted us to see if we could help as part of our Social Value offering. We were delighted to offer our services and got to work clearing the garden, cutting down the tree and laying AstroTurf to create a maintenance-free garden for Jeanette and her grandchildren to enjoy. With a revitalised garden, Jeanette now enjoys a beautiful outdoor space and starts each day with a smile, saying: "It’s absolutely fantastic! It’s the happiest I’ve been since I’ve been here. I come to my back door and look at it every morning with a big smile on my face." This project reflects the power of collaboration and a shared commitment to social value. It’s not just about building or renovating, it’s about creating environments where people can thrive and reconnect with the things that matter most.
