We're really proud to be part of the UK Community Foundations network, and grateful that the vital work we all do has been championed in the House of Lords by Lord Dr Michael Hastings CBE.
A huge thank you to our President, Lord Dr Michael Hastings CBE for recently bringing to light the work of community foundations and our network's role in distributing resources to individuals, households and local charities, in the House of Lords. Lord Hastings: "As President of UK Community Foundations, I'm proud of the fact that we are in every single constituency throughout the UK... People feel so proud to give locally, volunteer locally and support locally." Lord Hastings spoke to the House of Lords in a debate introduced by Baroness Delyth Morgan of Drefelin about the contribution of the community and voluntary sector to society across the United Kingdom. Baroness Morgan: "Charities are indeed the backbone of our society. Charities are there for people at the worst of times, but charities are also there for things that make life better and communities richer. They build bridges, they bring people together where there is division and they are deeply trusted often where the State is not." UK House of Lords #Philanthropy #CommunityFoundations
