Flat-pack OX electric truck gets a $163 million order, expands in Africa

Electric Trucks won't work in Africa?? $163 million says you're WRONG! “Over the last three years, OX Delivers has made a significant positive impact on the lives of our 5,000 customers in Rwanda. Some of our customers have seen their sales increase by five times simply by using the OX Delivers service. This new franchise will allow us to strengthen our commitment to Rwanda as well as expand into neighbouring countries to radically transform the lives of thousands more traders. “Our approach creates a crucial self-reinforcing cycle of economic and social growth within the local communities that OX Delivers operates in today and we have the ambition to expand this across the Global South in the future.” Colin T. CEO, OX East Africa A couple years back I was talking to Simon Davis 🚛🌍⚡️ about OX Delivers and the early success they were having in transporting African farmers and traders and their goods to market. They could do it reliably and cheaply because the Gordon Murray Automotive designed OX electric truck is cheap to build and extremely cheap to run, allowing them to offer a low price point in the market. Personally, I think it's one of the best businesses I've seen because it utterly transforms the lives of those farmers and traders, allowing some to expand sales by 5x. Thus, business for OX Delivers has exploded, with them doing almost a million in revenue this year. This $163 million deal means they can go from a few trucks in Rwanda to expand operations right across East Africa. Here's the thing, low cost solar panels and batteries are beginning to radically transform energy systems in Africa, and it allows electric trucks to run reliably and very cheaply.
