This visual not only highlights the port's significance but also demonstrates the critical role satellites play in maritime operations. Maritime Applications of Satellites - Port Monitoring: Satellites provide a comprehensive view of ports, enabling efficient traffic management and improved safety. - Environmental Monitoring: Images like this help track water quality and pollution, supporting sustainable maritime practices. - Security Enhancements: Satellites aid in detecting unauthorized activities, ensuring the safety of vessels and cargo. - Navigation Support: Real-time data improves navigation, helping vessels avoid hazards and adapt to weather conditions. HAMMER, which stands for Hyperspectral AI for Marine Monitoring and Emergency Response was built through key technical features with capabilities to monitor the seas with near real place insight. Satellites are a vital tool for transforming the maritime industry. 🌟 Inspiring the Next Generation of STEM Leaders 🌟 Open Cosmos hosted the project "La indústria s'obre a l'escola amb perspectiva de gènere", a collaboration with the Catalan Government: Direcció General de Cures, Organització del Temps i Equitat en els Treballs, the Secretaria de Feminisme and the Departament d’Igualtat i Feminisme. Over the course of this initiative, we welcomed approximately 180 students from 3rd and 4th grade of ESO at Institut Enric Borràs in Badalona. These talented young minds got an inside look at what we do at OC and how we do it. Our goal? To spark interest in STEM fields, especially among the girls, and to have honest conversations about the challenges women face in these industries—and how they can overcome them. Encouraging diversity and inclusion in STEM isn’t just important; it’s essential for building a better future. We’re proud to play a part in inspiring these students to consider careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Thank you to everyone who made this project possible! 🎄✨ Open Cosmos celebrated the season with a Christmassy team day, including a Christmas Jumper Competition and a team walking challenge in support of Save the Children! Over the past five weeks, our team worked together to virtually complete a round trip of all OC offices—Athens, Barcelona, Porto, Harwell, and back—totaling 8,125,000 steps. If we achieve our goal, Open Cosmos will match donations for this important cause.
