🎄 Season’s Greetings from On The Mend! 🎄 As 2024 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on a year filled with progress, milestones, and exciting opportunities that set the stage for new adventures in 2025. From completing TheHill accelerator in Oxford allowing us to deepen our connections with a presigious NHS trust, to registering our company in #china with the help and support of Globaltech IP, which will unlock opportunities to expand our mission globally, to advancing the exciting work we are doing in the #US with Brenton Pennicooke, MD, MS, FAANS, we continued to build momentum in widening our clinical partnerships. And Christmas even came early with funding from CPI through their MedTech Accelerator, giving us the backing to start the new year strong as we work towards achieving medical device status. None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our team, partners, investors, and community. To the clinicians, collaborators, and everyone cheering us on - thank you for believing in our vision to achieve more in physical rehabilitation and transform lives. As we step into 2025, we do so with optimism, determination, and a commitment to making physical rehab engaging, patient-centred, and more accessible for all. From all of us at On The Mend, we wish you a joyful holiday season and a healthy, prosperous New Year! #OnTheMend #SeasonGreetings #PhysicalRehab #Innovation Arash Aframian Kapil Sugand Nicholas May Ralph Stenzel Chris Sawyer Fatima Aamir Qureshi Kyoko Fogel Raviv Haddi Nathan McNally Kristina GTIP Hassan Chaudhury HonFAPM Peter Tensen Stefania Schino Dmitriy Malets George Burlakov Ed Jaspers Jeff Cao Peter Jeng Max Shapiro Jon Warner Kevin McDonnell Jeeva Joseph Rujvee P Patel Brian Carlin

What does it mean to delight users during physical rehab? A time when they’re in significant pain or discomfort. When they need support, guidance, and encouragement. To stay engaged with their treatment. It’s a complex challenge. Engagement, motivation, and behaviour change. While also addressing loneliness, uncertainty and fear. And so much more. We believe thoughtful design can overcome these barriers. Elegance and form matter. As much as function and content. Especially when a platform is used daily. Often during moments of pain and emotional fatigue. That’s why we’re proud to receive an honourable mention in the Design Intelligence Award. This recognition reflects the care and attention we’ve given to creating a platform that does more than deliver treatment. It supports. It guides. Addressing broader, holistic challenges during rehab. Design can transform a rehabilitative journey. It can help people stay engaged, motivated, and hopeful. This achievement inspires us to keep raising the bar. One thoughtful design decision at a time. We’re honoured to be recognised. Committed to reimagine recovery for those needing it most. #digitalhealth #physicaltherapy #innovation

Rehabilitation is life-changing. Yet millions of people are missing out. This isn’t just about healthcare - it’s about fairness. People in poorer communities are 60% more likely to have long-term conditions. But they’re far less likely to get the rehabilitation they need to manage them. The result? -Shorter lives. -Lower quality of life. -Rising healthcare costs. Rehabilitation isn’t an add-on. It’s essential. It helps people recover, stay active, and avoid hospital readmissions. But the system isn’t delivering. Services are fragmented, underfunded, and inaccessible to those who need them most. Innovative projects, like patient-led buddy schemes and community MSK support, are showing the way forward. But they can’t do it alone. We need action. A cross-government strategy. Expanded rehabilitation workforces. Seamless NHS frameworks for respiratory, stroke, and cardiac care. The time for change is now. Industry leaders, healthcare providers, and policymakers - we all have a role. Let’s close the gap and ensure rehabilitation is a right, not a privilege. 📢 Join the conversation. Be part of the solution. Link to blog: https://lnkd.in/eQfnTXa3 #RehabilitationForAll #HealthEquity #TimeToAct

Six weeks in #China, and the way business works here is really sinking in. The connections between #government, #industry, #academia, #finance, and #healthcare aren’t obvious at first. But the more people you meet, the clearer - and stronger - those links become. This past week was a turning point, tying together insights from five weeks of countless meetings and Weixin/WeChat groups. It confirmed that On The Mend’s mission to drive digital transformation and modern healthcare in #China isn’t just ambitious - it’s shared by everyone we engage with. We’re now positioned to collaborate with healthcare organisations across #China, the #UK, and the #US, putting us at the forefront of world-class #physicalrehab. Success doesn’t come from one meeting. It’s about persistence, partnerships, and adapting to local needs. With plans to launch projects in #2025, On The Mend is ready to engage with clinicians, academics, government leaders, investors, and partners to build a global alliance. Political and economic uncertainty may remain, but there’s still a shared belief that together, we can make a positive impact. In a nutshell: -The right exercises -Guided by physical therapists -Help you regain strength, balance, and range of motion Dr. Hankenson's key takeaways for a stronger recovery are: 1. With outpatient therapy accessing specialised equipment. 3. Critical recovery goals Thes focus on: -Strengthening quadriceps to stabilise the joint -Improving balance with single-leg stands and others -Achieving full range of motion to prevent stiffness 4. Resuming activity -By week seven, many patients can restart daily routines -Or even sports -With modifications to protect the longevity of the new joint Recovery is a journey, but you don’t have to do it alone. The latest report from the Nuffield Trust and The Health Foundation highlights a growing crisis. Trauma and orthopaedics are now responsible for some of the longest NHS waiting times. Patients needing care are waiting over 15 weeks on average.😣 Longer hospital stays and overnight admissions are common. That reduces the capacity to treat more patients.📉 The pandemic has only made things worse, causing significant drops in access.😷 Despite efforts to cut waiting times, trauma and orthopaedic care is still falling behind. Patients are left in pain, waiting far too long for the help they need. The system is struggling to keep up.🥵 At On The Mend, we understand the urgency. Our platform is designed to increase capacity and improve patient flow. By targeting those who have been waiting the longest, we aim to bring relief.😌 We are ready to work with NHS Integrated Care Systems to tackle this backlog head-on. Together, we can reduce waiting times and get patients the care they deserve.🤝 #NHS #Orthopaedics #DigitalHealth

The #NHS needs community-based care—here’s why. The recent report from Professor the Lord Darzi of Denham OM KBE PC FRS makes clear the £176 billion NHS budget isn’t being spent where it should be. Too much is allocated to hospitals, leaving community care underfunded and overwhelmed. Despite a 17% rise in hospital staff since 2019, productivity has fallen, with too many patients stuck in hospital beds due to underinvestment in social care and community services. The result? Overcrowded A&Es, fewer outpatient appointments, and a workforce that’s bogged down by process inefficiencies. Staff aren’t doing the jobs they trained for—they’re scrambling to manage hospital backlogs. Meanwhile, community services—where preventative care and long-term support should happen—are starved of resources. This isn’t a new problem. Successive governments have promised to shift care to the community, but hospital spending has only grown. Today, nearly 60% of the NHS budget goes to hospitals, despite the clear need for more GPs, mental health support, and community-based nurses. At On The Mend, we are working to be part of the solution. By collaborating with NHS teams and U.S. healthcare organisations, we are driving the shift towards community-based care. Our approach focuses on bringing care closer to patients' homes, enhancing recovery through home-based services, virtual care, and primary care support. Investing in community care is essential for a sustainable healthcare future. It lightens the load on hospitals, boosts staff productivity, and improves patient outcomes. Let’s reshape the system to deliver care where it truly matters. #NHS #digitalhealth https://lnkd.in/e5qDGmn6
