💡 Is it time to admit the line manager cascade isn’t enough? For as long as internal communication has existed, there has been the line manager cascade: the passing of information down the hierarchy from leaders to manager, from managers to team members. This kind of communication system has been front-and-centre in organisations with frontline workers; people like nurses, retail staff, plumbers, manufacturing workers, delivery drivers, construction workers, salespeople on the road… you get the idea. They’re not at desks looking at email all day. Reaching these people is SO important but it’s been a business challenge for years. Maybe it’s time to admit that the traditional method of line manager cascade simply isn’t enough anymore? If we want to keep our frontline workers informed, engaged and connected to the organisation’s mission and vision, we need to be more intentional about how we communicate with them. The good news is that mobile-first technology, particularly employee apps, offers us a consumer-grade approach to communicating with frontline workers – something that would have been unthinkable 20 years ago. 👉 Your reminder to take into 2025: The line manager cascade is not enough Joanna Parsons has joined us for a guest blog to highlight that if you’re not using mobile-first tech to reach your frontline workers, you’re falling behind. Over 80% of the world’s workforce (more than 2 billion people) do not sit at desks looking at computers all day. But guess what, most of them own a smartphone📱 Joanna’s article provides practical advice for those looking to engage frontline workers, so when you’re preparing your to-do list for the first day back in January, you can add each of her points to it: https://lnkd.in/gcRTzEdj

ASK THE EXPERT: Gen Z edition PART 5 In the final part of our miniseries, we asked Anna Hislop how we can help generations to work harmoniously together, overcoming generational divides in the workplace and communication issues that come with them. This is in response to our recent research on #GenZ and #Millennials and their attitudes and expectations of the modern workplace. Rewatch all of the miniseries over on our YouTube channel if you have missed any of them. We hope it’s been insightful!
