  • How to break down barriers to exercise for women? 📈 In a 2022 study conducted by Nuffield Health, alarming statistics emerged, revealing that almost half of the female population in the UK struggled to maintain regular physical activity. The pandemic has only exacerbated this issue, with over a third reporting worse physical health in 2022 compared to the previous year. The findings highlight the significant challenges women face in prioritising their physical well-being. The most common barriers reported were lack of motivation, confidence, enjoyment and time constraints. Many women don’t enjoy exercising but feel like they have to do it to look good or ‘be healthy’. Many find that walking into a gym or trying a new sport can be a daunting experience due to a lack of confidence and fear of judgment. On top of that, lots of women worry about safety when exercising, especially outdoors, as another survey points out (link in comments). The consequences of not being physically active can be extremely severe for women’s physical and mental health, and this got me thinking: what can be done to help women find enjoyment in physical exercise? If they enjoy movement, in any form, would it increase the likelihood of exercising more regularly, and ultimately improve their overall health? 🧡 Movelie 🧡 was created from the belief that movement should not be a punishment to the body (no pain no gain = 🤮), it should be enjoyable to become a habit, and social connections can make it fun and less lonely. Through the app, women will find a welcoming, safe, and supportive space to connect with like-minded people, discover new activities, and build friendships while supporting each other's well-being goals. Movelie is available on the App Store and Play Store for free, check out www.movelie.com
